Not buying bitcoin in the early days so I could afford 50k for 10% off at a model shop today #livid4 points

Everything happens for a reason. I could say I regret this or that, but thats whats put my in the position I am today in a roundabout way. So maybe I would be in a better or worse place, but it is what it is. Ive wasted a lot of money to be honest over the years, but that made experiences. I think my main one was I couldve bought a property when I was 21, I had the deposit and everything sorted, I was going to rent it out as that was all the rage and worthwhile back then. But then at the last minute I changed my mind and I bought a Civic Type R instead 😂 That little house wouldve been a nice little investment by now and wouldve got me on the ladder much earlier. Ah well.2 points

Following conversations with serious rc it was out of warranty but they did offer me a good option. However today I thought I’d try my luck and put it in the charger and miraculously the cells all had a reading and I’ve been able to restore to storage charge. No idea what’s changed as same cables etc but seems I’ve been lucky.2 points

The 50k for 10% off was the seller for me 🤣 For a company that looks like it's nearly 200k in the Red, for 50k I'd want at least a Rustler XL5 for Free and a Tamiya battery connector (and a large bag of Haribo)2 points

Marrying my first wife !!! 🤣🤣 Thankfully it all turned out for the better when I met my present wife! 😍2 points

So...not had this problem since @Skyesgaming last visited.... My 'thing' is too wide for the damned hole!! With it so late i can't really drive it home. It's literally like the paints width to wide too 😠 Guess I'll be extracting it and rubbing it down with some sand paper on my next day off 🙄 Much better quality metal in these hardened CVJs compared to the stock ones though. When I do the other side I'll post a side by side of them1 point

Too many to list really, mostly centred around my total lack of ability to recognise the value of staying in the game for the long haul... Let's see, how about deciding to buy a restored 1972 911 2.4S for £8500 (in circa 1997) and then bowing out at the last minute because I felt 'uneasy' about blowing an inheritance and my life savings on a little German sports car. What were those worth just 10 years later...???!!! Selling my E46 M3 CSL in 2009 for a grand more than I paid for it (in the trade) just 18 mths earlier. Value now...??? Feeling even more chuffed with myself (again in 2009 ish - a bad year for me...) after selling a large number of Taylor Wimpey shares for 5.5p - a circa 25% profit, having bought them just a few months earlier... what were they worth just 5-6 years later... Countering all these appalling decisions was finding & marrying Mrs Bertberr, so every cloud has a silver lining. Just don't bother asking me for any investment advice... Oh, and wolfie, to make you feel a little better about your regret, pick up a copy of 'A walk in the woods' by Bill Bryson, next best thing to actually doing the walk, and a lot less hazardous and considerably more amusing....1 point

@Kpowell911 I would of had that Type R too. There would probably been something wrong with a 21 year old that didn't want a Civic Type R 😂.1 point

Ill end up buying this and regretting it because I have no nostalgic connection to it watch!1 point

Exactly. I’d rather get parts here…and I do when I can; tyres, wheels, bodies and now Holmes, Reefs, Treal etc but the reality is our crawler market is tiny here in the UK so some specialist parts just aren’t available here. And the trouble with me is that nearly everything else I want for my builds is in the US of A 😆 Having said that, I’ve not been getting hit with import duties lately…for some reason 🤷♂️ I’ll get a massive belated invoice now I’ve said that! 😂1 point

@Gaz! It states on the Injora website that only the universal carbon chassis fits the lay down servo axles (annoyingly). I bought another to do my IR60 build. I do have one of the carbon chassis I sold you spare. Before I built up the tarantula 2 I put the diamond portals on a injora defender carbon chassis. I had chassis, skid, shocks, upper and lower arms, so no prop fitted. The servo only just touched when fully compressing one shock and I mean barely. I then tried some chassis spacers that come with the Injora universal chassis to space the rails out at the front. I think they are about 3-4mm wide. That gives more than enough clearance. So you could put small spacers between the bumper /mount to bring the chassis rails out. A piece of 2mm aluminium cut to size and drilled would work. I should of taken pictures with it mocked up. The furitek systems are very good, bluetooth connection to a mobile app for the settings, once set up I rarely touch them to be honest. The only esc I have used is the lizard pro, very good and the tiny outrunner, think it's called stinger or venom in the ftx Utah. They aren't waterproof if that's an issue, mine is circuit board with clear heat shrink on it. If I'm honest I'm struggling with the brushed setups in my mini crawlers after using the Furitek and Injora stuff. For crawling they're just on another level. I still need to test the Injora fat viper motor. It's twice the size of the Furitek. Supposed to have a huge amount of torque. So far I'd say the Injora brushless setup is smoother than the furitek, not much in it, but it's noticeable when driven back to back.1 point

Looking forward to that build mate, sounds about perfect (as ever) i was going to ask about chassis, im guessing the diamond axles don't work with Traxxas chassis rails with the lay down servo?? And would the carbon chassis i bought off your good self (with a double decker battery tray)work or would you recommend the newer version chassis?? sorry about all the questions mate, all this knowledge makes for a great thread and will be cheaper to build a ultimate truck from the ground up than buying a rtr and upgrading…. im not a particular fan of the longer shocks, i have all 53mm shocks on mine whereas my lad has gone for 59mm. The Ir40 has 51mm shocks, it limits articulation but my goodness, with all the necessary weight its like a barnacle now 4 weeks tomorrow and still no sign of my brushless set-up, even sold out on Injora site too. Are the Furitek combos worth it?? Also found a combo from rcecho on eBay, never heard of those before though. I would like both my Defender and Ir40 to be brushless and was thinking about 2 different systems or should i stick with another Injora combo??1 point

Good move going to 2s lipo will give it a boost and by xmas the new MJX hyper go 1/10 V2 should be in the shops, or banggood and that is a 4s monster super tough1 point

Thanks everyone. It is definitely an A979, that info has helped me look for parts etc. I agree the cost of a brushless motor and ESC cannot be justified, and even upgraded shocks or steering servo can’t really be justified. I’ve ordered: a pair of OEM shocks to replace the broken one, some shock oil to refill the other pair, 2x 2S LiPos and a usb charger with the correct connectors. That should be enough to get it running nicely the boost from 6.4 to 7.4V will hopefully give a noticeable performance increase. Then Santa can worry about the 1:10 3S or 4S real-deal.1 point

Should've worked harder in school, should've worked harder at working smarter.1 point

@Gaz! That's good mate👍 look forward to seeing that build👍 I've ordered a set of straight diamond axles for my build. I don't know how much the wheels will stick out. My plan is straight diamond axles, brass hubs with the counter weights so I can run steelies (that will bring the track in a bit) with 64mm hyrax copies (it states on the Injora site 64mm tyres work with the IR60) and get rid of the rotating mass of the brass wheels. And the Injora carbon universal chassis to suit the lay down servo. And definitely 53mm shocks, articulation is overrated. I've got one of the bigger Injora outrunners to try. Injora have them in stock again with esc's.1 point

Wow, there’s not a lot of articulation on the twin axles, maybe some tweaking and weight could cure that. and again, the cab is tiny compared to the bed, and that goes for many of the smaller crawlers and the bigger 1/10th stuff. If your going for the “scale” look then the proportions need to be “scale” too. now the 6x6 has been done, lets hope we get a 8x8 soon ppllleeeeaaaaseee!!!!1 point

Well i can now say “me too” in grey also, lmao….. i took my Mum & Dad to the railway station this morning and my dear old Mum stuck me £25 in my pocket for taking them, so its cost me £2.76. dont think this will be built in a hurry, id like to stick on those diamond axles and one of the brushless set ups for it, luckily were in the time of year where my birthday is coming and then Christmas. Although i have all the stuff from me dismantling the Tarantula sat doing nothing too…. i feel proper addicted to these little rc’s, i have a X-maxx sat on its shelf and sadly ive no urge to run it, id much rather use the little crawlers. I know, proper weird….1 point

Their latest statement on companies house says they have £191,000 of debt. He hasn't listened to any of the feedback on social media, he just deletes and blocks anyone who has any critical feedback. Good thing forums like this exist. @ad456m - could I ask who you use that has good shipping to Scotland and what makes it better than others?1 point

The Utah isn't too bad to work on for a mini crawler. My favourite to work on is the Trx4m. They're just nice to work on for a mini crawler. I don't like working on scx24s and smaller. My sausage fingers can't cope.1 point

Oh. My. Word! What a difference the 1080 makes. 😲 It’s much more controllable, far less jerky, it reverses in a more controlled manner (set the max to 50%), I can adjust the drag brake on the fly and the high-pitched whine it used to make has completely gone. It’s brilliant!! Now just need to organize the lighting wires, put the battery connector in an easier to unplug position without needing to remove the shell (need to get used to having to unplug it after turning the car off), put the ESC power button in an easy to reach spot and then on Wednesday I can plug the new reciever in and hopefully have proper steering again! And then it’ll be almost ‘done’. Just need the headlight lenses to arrive. Thank you for the recommendations, loving the upgrades.1 point

Probably not massive amounts for bashing about. A Cheap Chinese R/C probably has got more 'errors' in tolerances and slop than youd be able to sort with a proper set up. I wouldnt worry about it personally. On an 8th Scale Race Buggy? Yes, set up matters a huge amount1 point

If you disconnect the servo horn, set the steering trim to zero, centralise the servo, reconnect the servo horn then set the end points it could solve your problem 👍1 point

Light’s been sorted so all work correctly, headlights are ace, nice and bright, can’t wait to get the lenses for them as well. ESC and new Reciever still in transit, so maybe this time next week I’ll finally be able to drive it around again. 😅1 point

Some of you good folk will remember my grown up daughter lost her lovely furbag cat Albie, this devastated the whole family, we all loved that white rascal to bits, time moves on and Holly-may now has a new fur baby, please meet Rae, 4 months old and bold as brass but has the making of being a loving loyal companion for Holly1 point

Oooh, got my rx and tx today, they sent the wrong reciever, they sent me the 6 channel with light control and gyro, rather than the normal 6 channel non gyro non light control I originally ordered with the rx. Which is a good thing, because I just bought the same one that they’ve sent me (but minus gyro) the other day when I realised it’d do my taillights correctly. So now I don’t have to wait another week for that to arrive to be able to sort my lights, yay! 😁1 point

Urgh, very close to finishing my RC but life keeps getting in the way! I did manage a very small test run in the garden. The car didn't explode so that's a win :)1 point

So they're out in the wild seems okay for under 150 quid i would hope for a little bit faster, but that's just the basher in me1 point

Right, the new reciever seems to be having issues. It won’t turn left fully when under the weight of the car. Turns right just fine. Swap it back to the old rx and tx and it turns normally bith directions. Endpoints calibrated and whatnot, but no luck. Messaged dumborc on facebook to see if they have any ideas on how to solve (though it turns out DUMBO RC OUTLET STORE isn’t their official store, so kept that part quiet) I’m hoping the new one I ordered the other day will work when it arrives but my dad told me to tell the company about it and try and get them to sort it so I have. Darn shame. Worked out how to set the lights up so they all run off the rx rather than the tamiya box which is nice, the controller/transmitter seems nice too. So more waiting and faffing it seems 😔 Servo also making an odd crackling noise.0 points
