Found a new spot to have a cheeky fly and have to say it was lovely up there and the old Ranger performed sweet, this is my oldest plane and the one i learnt to fly fixed wing after years of multirotors4 points

Finished the strip, clean and rebuild of my truggy. Had a good look for broken parts and was surprised to only find a couple of minor issues, which Iβll either ignore for now or had spares for already; happy days π Also lengthened and rerouted the esc switch to keep the wires clear of the drivetrain.4 points

Removed the servo from the LMT which has a nice rattle to it. I also think I was lucky it didn't take the receiver with it as it smells like it got a bit warm. I'm going to try and send Modelsport a message and see if they can replace the servo. To be honest I don't think they will but there's no harm in asking.3 points

I've been collecting a few bits for this build since just after Christmas. Now seems like a good time to make a start on it. When I first saw the Comical Grasshopper I thought that it was just what the WR-02 chassis needed. Slight smaller wheels and a lightweight, low lexan body. My plan is to try to make it a good handling, fun wheelie machine. Time will tell.... Anyway, here's the obligatory box. As most people seem to do, I opened up the gearbox to add bearings and some AW grease in the diff. I also added the lightweight gear shafts too. The first thing I wanted to do to try to improve the handling was add some toe in to the rear wheels. The next thing on the list was to replace the upper fixed length links for some adjustable ones. I drilled the chassis mounting points out to 4mm and added some 50593 flanged tubes to install some 5mm balls. Also added some universals to the rear. Next job is the servo install. On to the front. Now, I really didn't like that Tamiya used a 4wd shaft for the front wheels when they already produce something much more suitable, and neater looking. The axle shaft from the M-Chassis cars. Fits perfectly and looks so much better. Here's the difference between the kit part and the M-Chassis part. And here's where I'm up to as of tonight. More coming soon... I had chance to do some more work on this little fella this afternoon. Shocks are on. I've used some Schumacher truck foams for the rear but was struggling to find some for the front. In my spares box I found a pair of foams from some RC4WD 1.55 tires that were spot on. Toying between brushed and brushless I decided on brushless. A 13.5t Justock with a 10BL60 esc (with the fan removed). Not decided on a body colour yet, so just put these wheels on to get it as a roller for now. And finally all wired up. I like neat wiring and look forward to doing in on any build. But, this was certainly the most challenging one I've ever done. Especially to get it looking good in such a small amount of space, and avoiding the driver figure. And that's all for tonight. I did just pop the wheels from my Konghead on to see how it looks. I was thinking about using the Jimny body I have for the WR-02 instead of the Grasshopper, but decided to leave it for a future build... maybe...1 point

What is it with FTX and putting holes in the chassis around the motor or servo or any other bit of electronics? Do they like bits of gravel flying in and destroying parts? I guess it keeps the spares/repairs trade booming.1 point
