Just thought I'd share my result from ROSSA Speed Championships UK Round 1 ~ My Typhon shattered it's spur gear on the first pass so instead of wasting a lot of time on that I purely concentrated on my Limitless. Glad I did as I just got faster and faster all weekend. New PB of 150mph odd.10 points

I don't normally run motor fans, prefer to gear accordingly and just let the motor reach its working temperature. However, to avoid damaging an expensive item, I've added this. Sounds like a jet taking off. I had to move the motor temp probe, not entirely happy with its new location, so may review that. Shame I'm not better skilled at metal working or I'd router out a slot on the underside of the heatsink for the probe to sit in.9 points

Today I put a design together for a foam free tyre foam for my crawler and printed off the parts for the 1st one. Unfortunately I was in too much of a hurry after waiting 8 hours for it to print and forgot to take any pictures before I stuffed it into a wheel. So, the picture below is just one small part of it. After a quick try out of the new insert around the dining room I think it’s probably too stiff in its current form. So I’m going to have to either try and redesign to increase the flex of the part or find some softer filament to use for printing it.9 points

Got a new not foam design done and printed one out. Good points are that it is definitely softer, and I’ve managed to halve the print time. Bad points are that it is still too hard and that I’ve still not managed to get things to stay solidly centred on the wheel. So under side load you can shift the whole tyre one way or the other which doesn’t seem ideal. Though to be fair these tyres have always done that on these rims, even with the stock foams installed.6 points

It’s here!!!!! Going to watch the CompetitionX build videos a couple of times and then dive in. It looks like it works best with a low profile servo, need recommendation’s for a decent option please and a sensored esc. Is a Hobbywing XR10 Stock a good option with a 10.5 turn motor? Then it’ll be a body, it’d be Delta Integrale if it weren’t for the sticker hell. Hmm? I’ll post the odd picture as it goes along, if anybody is interested? Cheers Steve5 points

The older I get, the more I prefer stock bodyshells. Luckily can get them fairly cheap from Jennys, so heres my Stampede 4x4 VXL with a factory shell Will probably sit on the shelf until I actually pull my finger out to sell it mind 😕4 points

All seems fine, I’ve given it the full beans while holding it in the air, no issues apart from ungluing a front tyre 😂 I’m sure I plugged the connectors in properly, but I guess I was wrong, ive managed to replicate the fault again, so knowing what caused it, I’m now happy it won’t happen again 👍2 points

Yes please. Will be nice to see how this compares to the XV-01 and the LC Racing PTG-2.2 points

It was always going to happen. Despite the cheese based bulkheads, lead drive shafts, porcelain differentials and play-doh wheels, it looks the way it looks and drives the way it drives. To avoid the common fails my plan is this: 1. Tekno drive shafts on the front. That'll leave me with a pair of spares for the rear 2. SCTE bumper and RPM skids (just because I'm a terrible driver) 3. Rear diff metal bearing carriers (TLR3100) to allow more accurate shimming of the rear diff 4. Team Associated Nomad wheels and tyres with HR 12mm to 17mm converters. I gather many people have just super glued the wheel hexes directly into the stock wheels and found that solves the wheel issue but I think a 4S car should really run 17mm wheels 5. Rebuild and shim all diffs before use I'm sure it'll find some new and innovative way to fail beyond these mods but hopefully I'll already have hit all the major weak points. Anyone got any further tips? Any recommended shim setups for the diffs for example? Cheers. edit: Ohh yes, and new servo. Opted for a JX Ecoboost 36kg. Not tried one before but the JX servo in my PTG-2 has been great. It's always a bit disappointing when you need to replace a servo right away on a new car. I'll add it to the pile of other duff rtr ones. I'd rather pay a few quid more for the car and have a decent servo from the off.1 point

Cheers chaps, it had a good run and its in safe hands, had a mess about with it before the crash and it wasn't working 100% over geared but still did some 60mph passes on 3s, awaiting the results. Going to fix the issues, maybe pick up some carbon-fiber sheet to replace the 3d printed parts. Also no footage from the event as my phone has died... There has to be some changes kept as the sensored system that was used prior, is going in the savage xs if i can find the right gearing for it. She will run again perhaps in aug...1 point

Lipos arrived Plugged them in the esc/servo started playing up, the servo was glitching and making the esc reboot, very strange because I had tested it all with 4 and 6s, I gave the throttle a bit of gas and one of the lipo connectors started smoking, it seems the power was going through the anti spark resistance side of the connector and not making full contact on the full power side, anyway after the smoke cleared I plugged it all back in and it now works perfect 🤣🤣🤣 I did read of something similar on the Arrma forum and they concluded the connectors can’t have been fully pushed home, I’m pretty sure they were in my case… Strange 😂1 point

I "liked" your post @Redback because although it didn't go well for you with the Banzai it'll be great seeing the little man having fun with it & hopefully getting his own cap. Best of luck to him.1 point

HXB Pro and Capra duo session. The HBX has diffs that are too open, and the tyres are too hard but it is just so much fun. I was tempted to replace the wheels and stick grease in the diffs but I like how it just wants to spin out in loose dirt and requires a gentle throttle to stop it spinning out. It is also so light that crashes and flips are a non-event and I am not left wondering what might have broken like with some of my larger models. The Capra doesn't come out loads as I still prefer the slower measured crawl of my TRX4 but I always forget how amazingly capable it is. I was tempted to get some better tyres than the stock but that might make it almost too capable so sticking for now.1 point

Started to go through the ones I am not likely to run again. Decided to paint up a new shell before I put this Hyper ST up for sale. Think it looks pretty smart. I have a few more I am going to sell too. Keep an eye on the for sale section.1 point

Rebuild the rear driveshafts of my traxxas rustler 4x4 so it has now pins and boots , in the process I found out that the wheel bearings had seized up and one of the diff bearings, it sounded a little squeaky the last time I run it, so I changed all the diff bearings, and center diff bearings and wheel bearings, the front of the car is still smooth so no need to replace the bearings there.1 point
