  5. A lunchbox to still my hunger to buy. It is the pre assembled one, most off the times a prefer the kit version, but this one was on sale and 40 euro cheaper then the kit version, a bonus is that I do not have to paint the hard body, but I have to rebuild the thing put bearings in it and do some small upgrades.

  6. This (although it actually arrived 2 days ago). It's a bit scruffy, but will be perfect for my needs. I've already started stripping it down and cleaning. It will be rebuilt with a lot of RC10B3 parts and upgrades. I'm planning on running this in the vintage category at the local buggy club so will have to be put to a fairly old school standard. The fantastic thing about the Thunder tiger Phoenix was that it's an exact re-release of the original RC10B3, but the mouldings were re-tooled with metric hardware instead of the original imperial. In every other way it is the same car and will use the same parts.

  13. A good idea is to check what most people use in the club, if it fits your budget you will find it easier to get advice on setup for the car. I personally like Team Associated cars, for a good buggy and relatively cheap spares Schumacher is a great choice.

  14. Let's hope they have a hidden body mounting system and not spoil it with body posts and R-clips.

  20. Brought the Hot shot back to pieces, and put it in a nice warm bad to let it soak all the dirt of, I am going to rebuild the car and bring it back to stock form, it had the super hotshot suspension parts on it but I like the look of the original more.

  21. Got this guy running again! 😀 I’ve borrowed some bits from another 1/18 as a test but will convert to brushless in due course! edit: the vid was taken just before the tiny nimh died so it’s usually way faster lol

  22. Finally took the DR8 to a location that it could really open up. Discovered said area had a hidden hole in the ground which was about 1ft deep and 3ft wide. DR8 disappeared into the hole while going flat out, hit the inside and then did cartwheels for day! Not sure I have seen many people do this?

  25. Pulled the whole thing apart cleaned, greased and lubricated the gears, fitted a brand new set of sealed bearing, put some carbon fibre on it, replaced the standard dog bones with a set of CVA's, and fitted a full set of hex head screws to replace the standard crosshead ones. Busy day, but the car looks so much better for and will drive like a proper race buggy now. Just need to get a nice set of shocks and it's ready for the local clubs vintage class. I bought this off eBay not long ago. I believe I bought it from @Fly In My Soup, but not 100% sure?

  31. Here we are again... I have no idea where the time goes!!! So this one also started around 2 to 3 years ago and pics are on another ‘pooter’ so I’ll do me best off what I got ‘ere🤪..... Bottom line I just completely fell for a chassis made over in the states.... I’d seen his V1 model and that was nice but when the V2 came out that was it...... So after some Messaging ( and translating between American and English!) I got me a Toyzuki V2 chassis ordered 🙀🤗.... The official word!: The V2 chassis kit is for the Axial scx10.2 with the new 5 gear transmission. The Toyzuki version 2 moves the motor closer to the frame than the old version 1 to free up some driveline clearance for the new high pinion AR44 axles. The motor mount houses the first 2 gears of the 5 gear transmission and the transfer case houses the 3 from the stock transfer case. This configuration can be run as an overdrive for the front, or you can swap the driveshaft to the other output if you prefer to run a matching ratio. Also, with the smaller gear sets, the entire case fits below the chassis rails for an easier interior install. In Layman’s terms , she’s just a super sweet sexy as hell low Centre Of Gravity Chassis!! 😂🥰 He now has a website if you want to bankrupt yourself 🙈: https://www.toyzuki.com/ I had purchased an scx10ii kit to rob the parts off but by the time it turned up I’d also accidentally ordered up some different axles! Man maths had convinced me this was the right path as I had an old scx 3 gear tranny kicking about which would then complete the scx10ii kit and the boy could use that then 👍 Here’s a side view... Mmmmm And this is what it builds to!! Ignore the scales as they were wrong 🙈 Here’s the gearbox - that I took apart recently to change a shaft I’d made that wasn’t perfect! And them in the know have just seen the motor! Have never tried brushless on a crawler but fancied it and John at Holmes Hobbies convinced me this would be the right one.... Puller Pro Stubby 2200kv which I will later mate to a Mamba Micro Mini..... All this was with low weight in mind.... For this build I decided to use the SSD AR44 Diamonds including their weighted front hub. These really are excellent quality axles. I went with a plastic diff case but metal tubes... Again, the scales lie! But these sure are luv - erly axles! Links and such like are essentially SCX10 ii but tweaked.... Here she is taking shape! This time I believe the scales are correct... Next was to decide on a body...... “Slim Fit Sir!??” The original idea was that this would be a C2 truck with a cut to hell hard body but light chassis then balance that with weighted hubs etc..... But then I’d decided on another leafer for my C2 ( see the LC70 build!)..... Which kinda left this as a C3 by default..... With a hard body I’d get some useful points, then match that to some narrow ish axles and add some scale tatt and hey presto she’d be ahead before starting.... Obviously at the detriment to side hill balance and such like but something I reckoned I could get over fine.... And don’t forget folks.... Hard bodies just look UBER COOL!!! 😎😎🤗😎 Heres the LC70 mocking up with some almost comically large 2.2s : Only issue is it was Uber long and pretty wide and again front steering clearance at the ride height I wanted was tricky..... Certainly looked cool as a cab mind 🥰 Ch - Ch - Checkout that front wheel clearance to body!! This was the other consideration: A pinched front Yota Cab... At this stage I just couldn’t make me mind up!.... Luckily at that stage a brief interlude of 2 or 3 years occurred!!! (Imagine some proper lounge lizard music... 😂) T. B. Continued......

  32. “The Clue is in the Title” Yeah yeah so you all know the surprise before we get there!! 😂 Id seen these power wagon bodies some years back and liked the look of them. Not only do they look cool as hell they also have a real width advantage being quite slim.... With some ruthless mods they can also be a perfect contender do a low chassis with mega steering...... Orginally I’d seen a hard body version through AsiaTees some 4 years back but I missed the boat..... Fast forward aeons and I got my grubby hands in one through a deal struck with our very own Hell Horn in here... He’s done a real good job on the body..... He still had the original rear bed untouched as his version was a flat bed recovery van ! Mocking up on the chassis I could see the direction I needed to go in..... Trouble is I felt guilty !!! ........ Luckily for me my desire won over in the end!! 🤪🤗😂🙀 Chop Chop Chop Chop Chop!!! Mmmmm that’s looking Shaweet!!!! (more pics in a mo I promise!) Next I got sidetracked into building up my 1st version of the shocks.... I use Losi Mini T springs and some adapters from shapeways which I coloured in black in the end.... Then I set my wheels and tyres up.... As soon as I saw these skinny KLR X4s I knew these were for me!... A nice light rig is gonna make good use of these.... The only issue is that the carcass is pretty thick and the whole tyre is pretty heavy for its size! Ive heard of folk trimming the hell out of the sidewalls and removing all the internal ribbing But for now I thought I’d try them as is and went about putting a few different foam combos in...... Oh, and put them on some cheapo plastic gear head wheels I had in stock... Next I had another play with the links.... I also put my new shiny Hitec 7950 in position and had a play with the steering links bs panhard... This took a very long time!! And I ended up making my own steering link for clearance reasons... Ignore the dodgy looking drag link - just working lengths out... I also ended up taking the motor plate up at one point Due to link to motor clearance issues... But after some significant playing shall we say 🙈😂 and a bit more caster and other adjustments I managed to find the balance with motor plate in the lowest position AND the chassis in its lowest but still free moving! All that left me with this: ( Not correct belly height here) Love them wipers!!! ( shame they won’t last long 🙈) Lookin’ laverly!!! Till next time!! T.B.Continued!!!.......
