  3. A lunchbox to still my hunger to buy. It is the pre assembled one, most off the times a prefer the kit version, but this one was on sale and 40 euro cheaper then the kit version, a bonus is that I do not have to paint the hard body, but I have to rebuild the thing put bearings in it and do some small upgrades.

  6. Just bloody good fun. I liked my Dads so much I hit one via a cheeky eBay bid. Mines the same except for having lights and the traxxas link fitted. The lights make me chuckle, brake and reversing lights along with headlights!

  7. Brought the Hot shot back to pieces, and put it in a nice warm bad to let it soak all the dirt of, I am going to rebuild the car and bring it back to stock form, it had the super hotshot suspension parts on it but I like the look of the original more.

  10. Looks like a nice kit, and not crazy expensive compared to some Tamiya / Kyosho higher end buggies. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/schumacher-cougar-classic-kit-1345198

  11. Well, this happened this evening 🤔 I've got other projects on the go so it'll stay like this until I decide what to do, I have a few ideas but don't want to spend on it. Its crying out to be turned into a wrecker/tow truck, but if I make that it'll only get broken off when it inevitably rolls down a cliff. I might do a flat bed, dunno yet. I also need to strip this rig completely down for a clean and service plus add alloy parts and hardened diff gears, driveshafts etc. Already got the parts sitting in a drawer.

  12. So this is what happens when you take a Team Associated DR10 Team Kit drag chassis and mate it with an Element RC Gatekeeper cage........you get the 'StreetKeeper' Much chopping and modding was done to fit the cage. Fuel tank was relocated to the front make way for space to install some future detailing parts in the rear. Even managed to make the DR10 chassis nerf guard mounts into fixings for the cage. The plan is to keep it as an exoskeleton build and do some internal detailing.

  13. Whilst checking out MS i found this amusing little description in the Mogrich specs... Scale interior features Through the windows, the magnificent instrument panel and cabin interior can be viewed. Canopy cab, foreskin seat Create mod in gtr as mini RC car crawler Rc rock crawler 4x4 offroad waterproof I think (hope) something got a little messed up in translation , otherwise that's just horrific

  21. I just bought the kit version of the WPL C24-1, so I thought I'd resurrect this thread. 🙂 I bought it with the excuse that I needed a 1/16 crawler to accompany my son's WPL B36 (a chunky 6-wheeled army thing), and I do so hate mixing scales. I'm also slightly addicted to buying RC cars and then hardly ever driving them. 🙄 So, it's built, but I'd rather not dismantle it for photos, as all the screws are self-tapping into plastic, and I don't want to weaken the threads. The differences between this and the standard C24 above are the wheels and softer tyres (from a C44), and the grille and bumper (from a C14). There's no canopy for the back, but the bed has been painted black on the inside. It has a flip-up box behind the cab that reveals the space for the battery. That's the cheapo ESC you can see inside it, and there's enough space left for a 1000mah LiPo. The ESC was from a robot I built a few years ago, but it seems to be a popular choice for these cars. I'm not sure if something better would leave enough space for the battery - I think it'd be too chunky. Having pinched the ESC from a different project, it was missing almost all it's wires, so I had to solder them back on. I maaaay have made the RX wire a bit too long, so there's some spaghetti underneath. There's not much in the way of metal in this kit, but that was handy, as there were some places where I had to chop off some plastic. The supplied servo wouldn't fit without cutting off a rod of plastic, for example, and there were some pointless bits of plastic limiting the steering. I'm really not sure about the steering setup. It's at the whim of the suspension, with it turning if the suspension compresses. I had to modify the suspension, as the springs kept on being pushed over the rods, instead of pushing on them. I chopped the springs in half (may have been overkill), and put a hammer bead between the spring and the rod to make sure they couldn't bind together. As a result, it sits lower. Maybe a bit too low at the back, but I still have two unchopped springs and lots of hammer beads to make adjustments with. 🙂 The interior is really detailed, but may have been designed with amputees in mind, as there's no room for silly things like legs. So.. plans.. I have some! 😀 I've got a metal upgrade kit on it's way from WPL, and a rear canopy. I'm not sure if I'll use the canopy or not, but it's nice to have the option. It would easily hide a bigger ESC and battery, which would be nice. I also ordered some MN90 tyres, as apparently they're very good for doing a wide-wheel mod, and a metal geared servo. I'm not sure you can tell from the photos, but one of the wheels was damaged, and is barely holding the tyre on. The good thing about these C24s is that they're very popular, and lots of people have created their own mods, so there are a few 3D printable wheel options to choose from. Before all that, I'm going to paint it! No idea what colour.. just not white. I might take more photos while it's apart.

  22. If you’re talking about traxxas link it does although not sure how accurate it is. That said I’ve not fiddled with it to much as it was fitted to the Maxx I bought. I think you can set up various other sensors I believe. It’s nice to have the battery level visible but it is a bit of a pain having to have the app there and I don’t want my phone attached to the tx.

  23. So the Maxx is fast becoming my favourite R/C. Great fun, it’s surprisingly fast, handles well, and when something breaks the parts are cheap.

  30. The update: - Scammer-san from foreign land tried to sell me some drive cups by paypal gift only, unfortunately he's no longer responding to me so no new drive cups for me. - I got some sponsorship from CastleGENT Builders Limited and Neil Milliken Watches, yay new sticker time. - Daughter likes lady bugs/ladybirds (which is the correct term?), so a ladybirdbug sticker. - First run the drive shaft broke so two new sets from AliX, they're doing fine! - I blew the motor because it was so fun testing it that pushing it till magic smoke comes from motor and can discoloured due to heat is apparently what I did. - New 3674 2500kv motor and WP-SC8 ESC due to be slapped in. All business up top: Party at the back: Tokyo drift stance: Lady bug bird: VIdeo: VID-20220610-WA0009_01.mp4

  31. Sold this to a friend recently. It was a bit too much for him and he struggled with working on it and lost interest. He advertised it back for sale but its honestly such a good spec Stampede 4x4 I didnt want it going to anyone else on Facebook Marketplace for the price he had it up for. It needs the motor mesh re doing, and pinion grub screw is rounded off Will probably re sell it on but its back for now. The Stampede holds a special place in my RC heart but cant see me using it

  32. This (although it actually arrived 2 days ago). It's a bit scruffy, but will be perfect for my needs. I've already started stripping it down and cleaning. It will be rebuilt with a lot of RC10B3 parts and upgrades. I'm planning on running this in the vintage category at the local buggy club so will have to be put to a fairly old school standard. The fantastic thing about the Thunder tiger Phoenix was that it's an exact re-release of the original RC10B3, but the mouldings were re-tooled with metric hardware instead of the original imperial. In every other way it is the same car and will use the same parts.

  34. A Tamiya Lunchbox, put a bid in on eBay and won it, never had one, and think the kids will enjoy it, there is just something about these, had Grasshoppers and hornets in the 80s but never one of these. Seems to have all the essential upgrades already, fully Ballraced (haven stripped the gearbox, but they are on the rear axle), fifth shock, metal body mounts and look to be oil filled dampers (don’t know if these were standard and also has a Parma Lexan body.

  35. Update on these battery packs ...loads better than the hump pack batteries lasted around 4 hrs of continuous bashing it's a good idea to buy a couple of these if ya bashing for longer 😀 oh by the way if you have a fancy remote it will monitor the battery so no need for the battery indicator leds on the side of the reciver box...bonus

  36. First proper bash with the Maxx yesterday, if you exclude bimbling around outside the house. All I can say is...this thing is a complete tank. The run area was a recently 'leveled' plot behind where I work. The big earth moving equipment left a couple of days ago, leaving a predominantly gravel / stone / dry earth surface, On 4S (I won't be running 6S), the Maxx was a real hoot, very controllable even with the TSM switched off completely. The previous owner had done a good job tuning the diffs, little to no diffing out and no crazy front tyre ballooning. Might go slightly firmer on springs and up the shock oil a bit, but overall it drove really nicely. My only previous experience with 4S is on 1/8 buggies, this thing is much more fun though obviously handling prowess is no where near that of the buggies. Nice to have a choice now based on where I'm running / mood etc. Towards the end of the run, with the car right over the other side of the site, at full tilt, so guessing 45mph+, I hit the top of an old brick that was mostly buried in the ground, with say 3-4" proud of the surface. About a dozen cartwheels later, body twenty odd feet away, I wandered over sheepishly expecting the worse. But off it drove with no obvious problems, got another 5 mins of trouble free running / crashing before calling it a day. On closer examination, the brick had taken a chunk out of the side of the front hinge pin retainer and a fairly big chunk out of the front A-Arm, but loads of meed left so no issues there. Couple more cracks in the already fairly tired body that will need stitching / shoogoo, tape etc, and one tyre needs a bit more glue, but overall I left extremely impressed with this rig.
