  3. Definitely is. Seeing stuff come to life that I have wanted to do for years. So happy that it's finally getting close to being finished. I put off trying to design something as I never thought I could do it. Have lots of health issues and suffer from severe dyslexia. So always gave up trying it. Then the best part of 2 years stuck at home made me do it. I Have always loved making stuff. And now I have the tools and the push to do it. I bloody well am. Ha

  4. Made some good progress with my sporty rock crawler I'm designing. Front chassis brace sorted and rear to finish off tonight or tomorrow. Then a few tweaks and I think it will be done. After 2 years of messing around with it. To pushing myself to work out fusion 360. so I could make the parts I needed too for it.

  7. Short answer.. you won't strip a caphead and yes I forgot tot say add a washer. Make sure you use 10.9 or 12.9 grade steel bolts.. very common on Ebay from sellers like Kayfast or GWR Fasteners.

  9. That's interesting, really depends on how hard you are on your rig, as with any RC I guess. I know if you start looking online, you get all manner of 'essential' upgrades, which in most cases, are simply not needed. I put the third 4S pack through the Maxx just before the B/H weekend, and the truck was a real blast, did some fast/crazy (ground level-ish) stuff, some jumps, wheelies etc, and I have to say it didn't put a foot wrong. Interestingly, based on what you said about Google/forums etc, I have yet to roll the truck in a turn...and its the standard / original width. Before I bought it, I was sure I'd have to go widemaxx before anything else, but as it is, with where I run the truck i.e. loose, loamy, gravelly terrain, it just drifts. Three packs through and no rollovers. I realise that wouldn't be the case on grippier surfaces, but I'll only ever run mine on earth, gravel etc, so widemaxx simply isn't needed. Be interesting to see how you get on with this truck on the second attempt. I've always liked the Revo due to its slightly unusual design, just nice to have something a bit different from an engineering perspective, that can cut it as a decent basher.

  10. Hello all. I had RC cars when I was a kid and that led me onto full size cars which have become a huge passion of mine. Now I would like to recreate my younger years by building a cool RC car, I’m hoping you guys can help me out. cheers Coldy

  11. The stock shock shaft eyelets are prone to pulling off and threading. People rectify it with Shock Limiting Springs. I also threadlocked alloy shock ends on, but Im not going to that until/if I need too. The Revo (like the Savage) has toe links on the rear, and uses the same hubs front and rear. People break the toe link (either at the hub or the bulkhead) which isnt ideal but I never had an issue with that, I do remember pulling the pillow balls through the hubs though..... I think my issue last time was I just read too much forum stuff. I changed shock springs/oil/ride height/pushrods based on the internets opinion before actually using it, trying not too this time, although I have changed the electrics. I really wanted to run TSM on this too...

  26. Update time, let's blow the dust off this old thread. The ZTW Beast is a good ESC, not as bad as Mr Talbot makes out. It's got issues, but kept within its limits, it'll do the job. However, with Hobbywing releasing the Max4, I decided to upgrade. The Max4 is in, bolted down and soldered up. Calibration was as simple as any ESC. Then came programming. I have a Hobbywing LCD box, but it's asking for a software update, so I can't move forward with it tonight. I'll address the software issue tomorrow. Here's some pics, excuse the bits of grass, I'll clean it out tomorrow. Side by side with the Beast. Mounted. Motor cables soldered and fitted. Having read through the paperwork, this ESC will run 6S through 12S, including all the odd numbers, so that's good. Plenty of other parameters to play with, more on that when I get the LCD box working. That's it for tonight.

  27. Last one tonight. I noticed a distinct lack of ACDC tracks on the forum. I loved Bon but Back in Black was the greatest come back album ever imo. Crazy Phil (loads of cars) Rudd playing drums.

  32. Got my new injora wheels and not proline hyrax tyres from China. Thought I might finally be able to fit my disc brake wheel weights with these but it turns out they bind on the portal covers on a TRX4 so will have to leave those off for now. Also got a pile of bits and pieces so that I can finish up the LED lighting loom for the prairie wolf shell and a few new wera tools as I’m a sucker for free postage.
