  6. Had a Lipo puff up last night, just wanted to remind others of the potential volatility of these batteries. Store them in the garage and obviously its started dropping in temps now were in the middle of November. Although living in the South West it's not too cold yet! Forecast for today is dry so, hoping to get out for a quick bash at lunch time. Fetched the lipo's out of the garage yesterday evening and let them sit in the house for about 45 mins to an hour before plugging the first one in. The first one has puffed after a 40 min charge, then plugged the 2nd in straight after and that one is fine. So I reckon they needed to be in the house for a good couple of hours before charging. That's the only difference between the 2 batteries. Both were storage charged about 3 weeks ago and been in garage since then. Have had the same amount of charges and they're only 3 months old. Absima 3S 6200 mAh 60C. Will be dumping into a bucket of salt (sea) water later. For anyone else that stores them in the garage just be warned to do the same thing! Let them come up to room temperature for at least a couple of hours.

  11. Grabbed exactly the same one the other day but not allowed to use it until Xmas, Had a quick look and test and I think there isn't much else about that can match it on price for components/quality.

  13. I have been a fan of Cross-RC products for quite a while and a few months ago I saw the release of a new variant in the AT4 series and decided to order it from China. The AT4V incorporates a slightly modified version of the AT4 chassis along with the pick-up truck body from the VR4. This truck could be seen as an alternative to the Traxxas TRX-4, Axial SCX10, Gmade Buffalo, etc. It has features such as a 2-speed transmission, remote-operated locking differentials and portal axles. When I bought the kit, I also ordered a selection of upgrade parts that I have been fitting as I go along. I have put together a step-by-step build video so you can see the truck in close-up detail. Other videos in this series include the ancillary equipment that is being used in this build and the unboxing. Future videos showing the completion of the build, integration of further upgrade parts and testing will follow. See these videos and more at: www.youtube.com/BlackSeaRC

  14. I am selling my Absima Assassin Truck/Truggy, originally a 4S model but upgraded to a Hobbywing 150a ESC and upgraded motor to run 6S lipo's. The wheels and tyres I got from a Kraton 6S, also included is an HPI body shell in white, a Proline Raptor body shell in nardo grey, and the original Absima body shell which is still in very good condition. The motor has been upgraded and I have added a heatsink and fan to keep the temperature down, although the truck runs nice and cool on the 4S batteries and is seriously fast with the current pinion. I will also include 2x Turnigy Hardcase Lipo batteries to run the truck on 4S. I can also include a dual charger for the right price. The truck comes with the original box and a load of spares, pinions, motor, diff gears, shafts etc. There is still around a year left on the Absima Warranty also. Everything is included to run the truck! I can send by courier through my work or its cash on collection from Dunmow in Essex. Offers around £200?! Try me.

  16. I have a Colt 1911 A1 replica, it is Co2 powered and fires BB's. It has a blow-back action and is field strippable and made by a company called Gletcher although there are loads of other versions at varying budgets. Some are made under licence like the Glock's and Sig Sauer's. Umarex make some very good semi-auto versions as well as revolver type guns. This is my Colt 1911 A1 and my Colt 1873 Saa, Both are .177 calibre but the 1873 Saa shoots pellets from replica cartridges that you load into the cylinder.

  17. I've been lucky lately with competitions so entered a draw on "The 99p Competitions" website to try my luck. A guy who goes to ROSSA is involved with it so I know they are legit & one of the guys has already won a prize. Just thought I'd mention it here as they only do RC related prizes so right up our street. Link: https://www.the99pcompetition.com/competitions/

  21. fitted a bigger and faster brushless motor to my losi mini b earlier. had problem after problem though, tested new motor and worked so yay, screwed it all into the car and powered up and encountered a problem, the motor was erratic and had a weired noise and i smelt burning, turns out the burning was from the esc, i suspect the screws i used for the motor may have been slightly to long, also had to deal with a stripped grub screw in the pinion and one on the motor mount lol looks like i goosed the esc that was in it although it still powers up, luckily i had a spare hobbywing 18 amp esc kicking about which is working good on it so far, little car goes like a lunatic now, possibly a tad too fast lmao 🙂

  22. The only body I'd be interested in is a Forerunner. This is what I'll be aiming for

  23. Well gents, I had mine delivered today. The price put me off completely but I love crawling so sold a couple scalers and took a hit. Oh and 0% interest Paypal helped As for first impressions, i hate to say it, but it’s knocked my TRX4 crawler straight off the top list. It’s not been outside yet, but it climbed the house staircase with such ease!

  24. I've decided it's time for a new body shell 🙂 As much as I like the attention to detail on the stock body I feel like making it my own. I follow a youtuber who owns a beat up Toyota Forerunner and I'd like to somewhat replicate it. Currently waiting for the Proline body to come back into stock so I can get cracking!

  28. a few different builds in mind so at this stage i am really just window shopping and making sure when I do get round to it I don't end up missing the newer options. not racing, bashing only. three things in mind: resurrecting / getting on with a truggy conversion - I have a thunder tiger st-1 plus rc-monster mount to convert it. 5 years ago I 'd have been off to that auction site looking for a 4082 leopard can, something like 1500-2000kv. and a 150a esc to match. and the motor I never quite pulled the trigger on were the TP Power ones. the 4070. Huge things. 🙂 Tamiya - i have a mad bull and pumpkin in box to make. Smaller scale - here is where I have no prior experience or knowledge at all. I have been eyeing up the LC Racing kit - the self build buggy. and/or the Losi Mini t 2.0.

  31. Rapid changes in temperatures are definitely bad for lipo, but storing in cold prolong lifespan of lipo🤔 My guess would be that bringing from cold to warm lead to condensation of moisture inside hardcase. I would try to store them in vacuum bag ( no air means no condensation)

  32. tempertaures changes arent good for lipos the chemistry reacts very quickly indeed ive always stored mine room temp in spare room in a ammo box good advice OP on temp changes 👍

  35. when a lipo is cold the voltage drops so what might of happened is as it was charging it got warmer and something went wrong.. I use to fly Rc planes a lot and when in the air lipos act different because of the cold. you can do a simple test. check voltage while it is out in the cold then bring it in for a while then check it again voltage should of jumped. you can put more V into a cold pack but when it warms up it will go over V

  36. I personally dont store my RC's in the shed or garage, it gets to damp and cold out there for electrical goods imo. If the batteries were cold could this cause them to puff as the lipo cyristalizes?, charging warm lipos also gives more capacity from what im told.

  43. Not even sure why I posted those terrible pics, just noticed it doesn't even show what the ESC is. Still got a lot to do, aluminium construction, no screw holes or mounting bracket, most likely going to use black silicone glue instead of the superglued foamed sandwich I'm using now. Also soldering job isn't tidy as it's being redone when new wires arrive, just wanted to make sure the ESC is fully functional etc at this point. Reds Racing Z8 Pro Gen 2. 220a rated sensored 6S ESC.

  44. The car is pretty much finished, bar the quick release battery parts... I started counting the "upgrades" and got this far - - bearings - hex screws - oil shocks - battery holder - servo mount (same position just metal) - servo horn (xray) - cvds - carbon fibre braces - carbon hollow shafts - 3 racing arms - M05 hubs - adjustable rear camber - better steering turn buckles - upgraded king pin screws It's pretty much still a standard m03
