Put a heart in the Yeti, castle combo i wanted to use would have required cutting parts, so used the 550l 3300kv axe system from the trx4 to get it on the road, shifts well enough on 2s. Servo was a right π§ as needs to be pulled right back inwards and only 50% throw for full steering, but very clean and handles lovely. Then threw on some lights n bits for a crawl this evening.4 points

He's not said what he's sending me yet, I'll probably find out tomorrow. He just said V2 plus new and upgraded parts but i'll let you know3 points

So i sent the car back, then Corally got back to me about the broken parts but it was too late as the car was already on it's way to AT. Corally ended up speaking to ATModels on my behalf as i was extremely ****** off they were trying to make me pay for the damage and i really don't think it's my fault this happened. Corally turned round and said pretty much no no no wtf? but more politely and then got in contact with AT. I'm now getting the car back with all the parts to repair it plus spares and a free service pack 2. I honestly can't fault Corally for the customer service they have gone above and beyond to help me and i think has probably been the best customer service experience i've ever had in my life. He really was trying to do everything he could to make sure i keep the car and hopefully he can send me the parts so this hopefully doesn't happen again. Failing that i'll just buy the Arrma balls as i've heard that pretty much fixes the issue and they have to take a really hard whack to be able to pop them out.3 points

Tamiya Rising Fighter arrived today so it's just an unboxing. The busted Maverick Quantum is being stripped for parts and radio gear transfered to the Tamiya which I'm hoping will be a bit more manageable for my daughter and less prone to breakage which has really dented her confidence.2 points

It's ok @Stormbringeri'm getting the Kronos back if you don't see my post in that thread π€¦ββοΈ2 points

Yeah only mod/upgrade I have is the oil shocks, which are much better, essential really. Was going to go with all the upgraded axles, outdrives etc but the (admittedly) poor standard items are still going strong, well they work still, just make the wheels look like they're permanently buckled! But when you're driving you don't notice... only replace when broken is my mantra with this little rig.2 points

Yeah, I've got mine ok, but I've had far better working shocks. I'll see what I end up with2 points

Added a cheap as possible roll bars to the bed. And might add some lights. So how had it will stay basic for 5 minutes. Congratulations bingo. **** it i got a few ideas for it now. Winch is fitted but my mate forgot the controller box. So is posting that tomorrow. And I'm going to add some lights I think. Might as well now. Lol2 points

Welcome to the forum. Dark Side Crawlers on FB are fairly active in the Devon area, maybe look them up once you've finished your build if you fancy some company when putting your rig through its paces.1 point

That was my understanding also, I will get my 2s battery then and wait for the standard brushless motor to bite the dust π€£1 point

I wouldnt waste money on buying a fan or another brushed motor. For what itll cost youll be halfway to a brushless system1 point

Helped build my mate a Tekno 8te a few years back. Is an impressive bit of kit to be fair but I just prefer the cheapness and bashability of a h7. That said if I had to choose a 2nd not a h7 i would take an 8ight-b (totally not the reason my richer mate went for the 8te at all - and he doesnβt have a buggy or a mt π) as they were known to be good bashers back then. Canβt comment on the best race bred stuff because you can race a basher but unless you have deep pockets generally donβt want to bash a racer (and i donβt have deep pockets π) so have never owned any.1 point

That makes perfect sense, the 8-4 isn't something I want to treat like a hyper at all. 8T-E is exactly what I was thinking about, but then the Mrs wants something different. I think you may have just peaked our interest in a EB48... Thanks dude, that's legit helpful and informative.1 point

Buggies handle better. Especially your Losi, its a race buggy. You can control a Truggy easier in the air in my opinion (bigger tyres, more rotational mass to help you correct). That said. A buggy needs less in air correction. I think what youve said, youd try something like a Kraton and find it cumbersome. However I think youd enjoy a Tekno ET48 or a Losi 8T-E. I kinda agree if you have an MT and a 1:8th Buggy you dont need a Truggy. I had an RB One R E and a Tekno EB48.3. Theyre both extremely high end race buggies. I sold them cause they were just too perfect to bash if that makes sense. They were too precise and good to be fun (IMO). They were fast, strong, everything perfect on paper. But they need to be on a race track. Not an open field or a skate park1 point

As long as he doesnt fill them right to the top with the piston down and then just screw the cap on as they would be rock solid near enough lol..1 point

I've just been on amazon and there are plenty of high Mah 2s battery's for a very fair price point. The ones I'd seen before where gensace battery's in a YouTube video etc. They again seem well priced.1 point

Unfortunately I've not had any Traxxas stuff so can't really share anything other than I think you're off onto the right track here with starting off with something that isn't complete budget level, with any RC car you're going to have to do maintainance at some point, might as well be doing it on a platform you can appreciate. As you don't own a RC car yet, it might be worth seeing if there's someone local to you who'd be willing to demo a couple of different cars so you get a good idea of what you really want. I came into the hobby thinking I'm not a fan of buggys and what I want is a big MT or a on-road speedster, now owning a big MT, I don't find it practical and its novelty wears off quickly...I had an on-road 1:10 and didn't even bother running it as I knew the potholes and what not would wreck it. The only thing I find myself coming back to time and time again, is a buggy. Goodluck with your search, if Droitwich wasn't so far away, I'd gladly have said feel free to try out a couple of mine to get an idea π1 point

Freddy has summed it up perfectly, you'll learn a lot and then probably upgrade as most do π in light of that don't overlook used stuff to get a better deal, some sellers will be honest and take care of someone new to the hobby ππ½1 point

FTX are a budget brand. RTR means ready to repair. No idea about the Zorro, but generally they break easy. BUT If you are happy to do a bit of maintenance/repairs, parts are relatively easy to get and cheap as chips. It can be really satisfying smashing the front off your car and repairing it yourself, especially when you are able to get the parts for less than a tenner. Personally Iβd say go for it.1 point
