Not the postie, but my dad dropped of an old Ammo box of bits from my Pro cat, which included an old Porsche 911 shell ( still in good nick, just badly painted by 14/15 year old me) 2 x Demon power motors (not sure if these work) ,an old Acoms servo and various plastic parts and some bits for a ball Diff.6 points

Got the Maxx Shell mounted using the new cage that has been back ordered since forever, also replaced two tyres that I blew To celebrate, for the first time in I think forever, all my Traxxas Model were in one house, not scattered so thought Id snap a pic š I'm quite proud of this, because other than the Maxx and Xmaxx (which share the same TX) all of these are independantly RTR, with batteries etc4 points

Day 2 was amazing, didnt manage king of the mallet as lots of entries and simply would have taken up to much of the morning, also didnt want to ruin the trucks before completing the trails ahead. Trx4 came away with no breakages, still running stock servo. šµ A great event for young and old, steady footing and study shoes critical as wild dinosaurs are on the loose around the track! Really worth the trip! Gate 13 "not acutally gate 13" was a real challenge, didnt make it but enjoyed watching others attempt it more than holding up the queue and doing it myself. The highrock did well the whole weekend but didnt do all the gates the trx4 did, was fun either way till it killed another servo. The forest trails 200 gates of hidden gold! Day 2 victims, 1 servo Total damage tally - highrock 2 etronix 28kg servos, 1 outlaw diff Well done to the SST team for such a cracking event, cant wait to see what next year brings!3 points

Also picked up this pistol, a Artemis PP700SA, was a bargain at Ā£140 brand new, then I added the folding stock, top rail, Red Dot and moddy, Ā£300 all in with the case, makes an awesome plinker and itās stupidly accurate I sold the Webley, well I broke it down and sold it as spares on eBay, doubled my money and paid for the PP700 š2 points

My Maverick at the moment, Optisan EVX 3-12x44i scope, Accu Tac BR4 G2 bipod, FX Radar Chrono and carbon mount , this saves hanging it off the barrel and changing the POI, also has a DonnyFL FX Moddy, FX No Limits scope mounts, Jeffsky oversized cocking handle, Saber Tactical Bag Rider and Front Railā¦.2 points

If you're supplying your own ESC why are they stating which battery connections the packs should have? If I want to run 6s on mini Tamiya plugs I will. So. Ner.2 points

Yeah I have some of their 4s for the quads and canāt complain tbh. I actually have some 5s in the basket there already but then I found some cheaper ones on AE (which with the tax already added on I prefer because nobody likes a surprise tax bill) š1 point

I do love a good build, canāt say Iām completely crazy about the G wagon body, but I really like the idea of Hobao kit as I love the quality of my Hyper 71 point

@Stormbringer @Yrkoon Cool vid guys, great to hear a Scottish accent in there, that's some rough stuff your running on, jeezus I could have swore last week the 150 amp Hobao Hyper vse rtr package was Ā£385 ? Now it's Ā£440.1 point

That looks like you all had a great time. I would have loved to been able to go. Hopefully next year! Myself, my brother-in-law and a friend spent time on the North Queensferry beach rocks, instead. Was still a good laugh!1 point

Just ordered an Arai Tour X4 as my lid is getting on a bit, plus I wanted something quieter (at least I hope it's quieter than my current one) also wanted something newer as I plan on hopefully doing my license next year. Also wanted something more suitable for my current style of bike and hopefully some sort of Adventure bike after I've done my test.1 point

Thanks mate, but to be honest the place looks good but looks can be deceptive, hoping to get a run at Copley woods next weekend with the DC1, treat it like you guys are saying....a trail truck that can do a bit of crawling, what i do know is i got a very good buy with it, it looks smart and works fine if kept within its limits1 point

You shouldnāt āneedā a heatsink with any rc motors imo. If your motor gets too hot there are other things going on (gearing, esc settings, driver control issues, drivetrain problems etc. etc.) šš»1 point

Unfortunately I started on 4s and itās just too slow. Iām running a heavy old H7 on a 2200kv (with 4s in mind) and the scorpion xxl without a modded diff. For reliabilities sake 6s is not really an option for either of those and Iām very happy with how both perform on 5s tbh. I could potentially do something with some throttle limits and 6s and have considered it many times but then Iād have 5s sat here that will never get used (because 5s requires manual cell count setting on the escās) and that would annoy me š1 point

Nope, for electric models And potentially for running classic electric models. Thanks for the tip of about EP cells. In short it appears a gap in the market (albeit a niche one) no one fills.1 point

As well as making holes in paper, which is quite satisfying in itself, I have cobbled together some targets as an alternative to the usual bullseye targets. I print them in portrait format on A4 paper. The upper figure is a Squirrel and the lower figure is a Rat, both have the internal organs on display. I shoot these at 20m so I think they are roughly to scale for that distance. Feel free to download/print the images. I have mostly been shooting this double Rat target. Strictly for practice š No Rats were harmed in the making of these images š1 point

Lost all faith in whoever built the kit as I started to discover more gremlins including a missing pinion bearing in the rear gearbox (facepalm). It's not a complaint really as I expect this with used stuff, especially when you pay not much more for what a used FTX carnage costs for a Losi 8ight 4.0 with a few spares. The chassis isn't warped, bent or anything awry, shocks are healthy, diff internals are in excellent condition, but it's clearly in need of maintenance. The Mrs asked what I want to do on my bday, and my answer was for her to rebuild 4.0 according to losi specs. I'm doing all the clean up, refreshing of diffs, replacing missing or worn parts and prep work... All metal parts including screws are sitting in solvent to remove crud, take away any surface corrosion (thankfully hardly any of that other than on the turnbuckle metal) then an acetone bath to remove any oils and a low temp session in a dehydrator to ensure all water is removed. First stage of dish soap bath with a toothbrush, still crud on them but going to repeat the process and may be turn to something a little more aggressive in the degreasing department that is plastic safe too.1 point

Is this the start of the end for Arrma ? Will they just now merge into one ? Are we going to see a new brand Loma1 point
-
yup the hyper vse is pretty solid out the box as dad "stormbringer says" we have the 4s versions and they go pretty sweet, just remember to get some blue thread lock for the wheel nuts and some other metal to metal screws š heres a vid of both mine and dads on 4s on pretty rough terrain š1 point

This car will mostly be bought to be broken down and built into speed run cars of some form..!! The pill adjustment on the upper and lower suspension mounts is what speed runners have been crying out for, I think here in the UK it will all depend on its price wether this is a seller or a flop. As for parts, let's be honest almost every brand has issues atm and will do going into next year too..!!1 point

TLR (Team Losi Racing) is Losi's "race" division as it were. I think they did this as a lot of people in the states have been getting into racing with their Arrma cars and they might want a bit more adjustability/tuneability for set ups or just to experiment with settings. I can kind of understand why they did it as it's a middle ground between a dedicated racer and something that's more oriented towards bashing. Though my guess is that the price of this wouldn't be far off of the price of a dedicated race kit anyway.1 point
-
I'm confused. TLR is Losi, yes? So why would they touch an Arrma? I get that Horizon own both, but apples is apples, oranges is oranges.1 point
-
For a lot of new comers TLR means nothing, there is no explanation of it in the literature and it just seems assumed that people know what that is? Team Losi Racing ?1 point
-
I doubt it as it's Horizon Hobby plus with the TLR branding I bet it will be pretty high price wise.1 point

Wonder how they price this against the VS Pro? The Hobao comes with a lot of carbon fibre and alloy upgrades so Iād imagine this will be cheaper?1 point

Finally managed to get some more done on the beauty. I'm not the best painted by any stretch, but the helmet paint came out ok. I'm even worse at drivers faced though.... And the body is done. Tamiya Corsa Grey with MCI decals. These are the first MCI decals I've used, and although they are not a patch on Tamiya's quality they do the job nicely. Especially for a runner like this one. I've still got to do the window nets and roof etc, but here is it.1 point
-
Interesting idea, though with the reviews of Arrma QC on this forum I'd probably go a Hobao VS Pro instead. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobao-hyper-vs-1-8-pro-buggy-electric-roller-13378071 point

Hey Tom, I'll see what I can do, not sure what is the quick way to correct that. In the meantime here is a slightly better quality video than the previous one, and the first one where the car is actually painted and mostly complete š I put a bit less torque limit on the ESC (Castle) so now it has more starting power than the last (not filmed) run, but when the power comes in it can go sideways pretty quick! There is also a gyro in this video, helps a bit for the fast slides over this uneven terrain! This is the terrain I like to run, very fine gravel, but there is a bit too much pine needles lol Hope you like it! Fred1 point
