  1. The important stuff about the truck itself and any aspects / design issues that you feel may be a problem for a typical basher, as opposed to someone who gets their models FOC or actually gets more income, via YT, the more they smash something up... And less time talking about the pamphlets, addendum sheets, spare body clips, type of foam packing material etc etc.

  5. Still waiting for the correct chassis from China I had a play with the front shell post that keep breaking. It is at least my second one splitting right at it's base.. As there is no metal upgrade (or at least couldn't find one) I thought to give it a go using my work's machine shop. And the finish result isn't too bad at all Made in two parts, using a grub screw to hold the post to it's base Then back on the car

  6. i've only ever bought 2 trucks new, its hardly an impulse buy XD I was already considering buying a kyosho mad crusher and doing a 4 link conversion for a few months now, but its still a flawed truck as well. I will make a thread when it arrives. Knowing my driving i'll break it first run.

  9. All looks doable, but I'd step to lipo straight away - the difference is significant in both run times and power. As for your list: RX - Seems popular the Fly Sky. Servo - Power HD - or there is a copy of that which is around ยฃ15 on eBay. Personally I wouldn't buy a cheap Savox. ESC - Get the 1080 - many more features for future use also. Motor: Speed and size will depend a bit upon rig and battery voltage, lots of folk use the Holmes Hobby Sport offerings or get their rebuildable machine wound option - either way, if you are doing water and mud quite a bit then don't spend a fortune and wash them out when done.. Batt: Lipo - I'd recommend 3s personally as once you've tasted it you won't look back - that said 2S with the right motor and gearing can be more than adequate. Then yeah all the usual stuff!

  10. General rule of thumb- 45-90a = smaller 1/10 120-150a = bigger 1/10 and 1/8 Gearing, tires, model, battery voltage and running conditions all come into play however the above is a general rule of thumb that has always worked for me. The linked combo above would work well, I wouldn't go for a higher KV motor than that.

  11. You cant really go wrong with either the TRX4 sport kit or the scx10 , i would say it would all pretty much come in under the ยฃ500, NI-MH packs can do pretty long run times a 4500mah should get the time you want

  13. You're welcome mate, and just for reference, I have an FTX Carnage brushless and the standard 2950kv motor has loads of power down low. It wheelies on 2s on dry tarmac/grass. But still reaches a top speed of around 30mph, which i'm sure will be enough for your boy. I run mine on a 4500mah 45c 3s lipo now and the power is a bit mad now to be honest for such a lightweight RC. If you give it any more than 1/3rd throttle from a stand still it just wants to spin in circles ๐Ÿ˜‹ I think the top speed with the extra cell may be closer to 50mph now, and i imagine it would be quite a bit faster if I switched to the higher kv motor. So yeah, with all that being said, I reckon the 2950 is going to be your best option

  15. Some nice work! Love a franken build - though I don't often do them from new parts! With you completely on nitro holes, that said the ST Pro chassis is superb and loves to bash..

  18. I doubt margins for UK shops are really any different to most shops. For example, when paying full retail from Towers, Amain or CML, when I used to order RC4WD kits from the states, they worked out at about ยฃ90-120 cheaper than UK prices, that's at full retail value, full shipping value and import taxes. If you factor in a discount for buying in bulk, plus the discount per item on shipping and import taxes because they are costing a lot less, the mark up is huge, just using that as an example because I know the facts and figures. At a guess I'd say the mark up is over 100% which on a ยฃ450 item is a good profit.

  20. I think most do, like cameracentreuk on eBay are almost always in the sales they have, but the day of the sale stuff goes up by 10-15% then when they take 20% off you think you're getting a really good deal but you're not... The reason I mention them are because they sell a lot of drones usually.

  21. Banggood have a sneaky habbit of upping prices a week or so before sale then dropping price back to usual for sale

  22. Good luck Iโ€™ve long since stopped the impulse buying from what I call freebie vids as these guys are given them to sell you on buying them. Iโ€™d of waited it out a little and watch to see them in the hands of the general public as thatโ€™s when there faults amazingly only seem to appear ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Keep us posted on how it goes will be interesting to find out ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  23. always wondered if a drop in anchor would work in this situation... The type you use in concrete.... My idea would be drop one the right size in, use a threaded bar with 2 nuts locked so that you have enough thread left on the end to get a slide hammer on and just slide hammer it out... I guess you could end up doing the same as what you've done by pulling the innards out though...

  24. Oh yeah and one more thing... I noticed that the GTB chassis' mounting holes for the side guards are threaded and not countersunk compared to what I have seen on other Hoboa chassis. (Although I noticed the VSe chassis I bought is similar.) I am undecided about how I approach this. I would prefer to have the countersink option and screw from the chassis up however I don't really want to drill and countersink this chassis if I can help it. I have some 5mm Cap head bolts on order which will allow me to use the existing holes and they don't protrude anything more than a Dremel can't fix... Ian...

  27. I suspect that repeated 20 foot+ jumps to flat and aerial tricks down the skatepark wouldn't be it's cup of tea shall we say.... But yes, fine for bashing round regular stuff I don't doubt - which just isn't my cuppa ๐Ÿ‘

  28. I actually thought I'd started one of these threads ages ago, then realised it was the Rival MT10 I started. Here's some of mine at varies times in it's life, it never ever gets boring to use. I might get one of those covers myself as well, I also fancy swapping out the elecs to a nice HobbyWing combo, but we will see, the stock one does okay, just a tiny bit coggy sometimes. And a video

  35. I have spent most of this week twiddling my thumbs waiting for the post, but I thought I would get into it again whilst I waited. I spent some time last night fiddling with with the chassis from an SSTe , steering linkages from the ST Pro and SSTe, and and chassis stiffeners from the GTB. Mary Shelley would be proud... So first up was test fitting the from steering linkages and chassis stiffener: I then discovered that the location tab on the ST Gearbox is not part of the SSTe chassis: Bit of grindy grindy fun later... And a perfect fit: And same for the bracing: Shame I lose the lovely CNC ST Pro front plate (Although part of me never liked the shininess of it) Hopefully some more parts arrive tomorrow... Ian...

  36. Got a list of things to do on this rig , but managed only to tidy a few bits and time the front motor a little quicker late last night..... Ready for an outing to MOA Nirvana !!! This morning.... Its basically what looks like bits of a broken up motor way that the council decided to dump on the sea front in Portsmouth for some extra sea defence... But to us itโ€™s a super high grip surface with big holes and some very challenging moves! Bloody great fun had thatโ€™s for sure๐Ÿ‘ The detrius!!! Shes sooo fine!!๐Ÿฅฐ ๐Ÿ˜˜ Definitely be going there again. ๐Ÿ‘ Had also taken the Toyzuki to drive but frankly it would have been pretty useless there, I reckon even a 2.2 sporty would struggle - where the MOA has so much control you can work it....
