  3. You'd need a DX3R if you want to get the SR3100,its DSM2 were as the DX2.0/3.0 and the DX3S are DSM.The SR300 is good enough for any application,I have one in my Baja and the Telemetry RX in my Revo, the SR3000/300/3500 and 3300T will all work with any Spektrum tranny exept the DX3R,they may work on that but the SR3100 deffo won't work with any other than the DX3R....

  8. You get what you pay for Well actually no you don't. Not in RC. Because most stuff is made somewhere in China, then imported, has a label stuck on it and sold on at a mark up. Which means that sometimes the same item is available from two different sources as wildly different prices. The best example of this is the Ace DS1015 servo. It used to be really cheap (for what it is) but when all the Team Associated drivers started using them it was re-released as the Associated XP1015DS at £20 more! Then to help them shift supplies of the cheap Ace badge version dwindled. Nosram and LRP stuff is the same except for the cases (red and blue respectively) but for some reason the LRP stuff costs more. The EZrun is another example of this. You can buy it off the shelf in the UK (though its rare) with a Speed Passion label on it - its the very same as their drift and Exige systems that retail for over £100. That is the real price of an EZrun, in the same league as the VXL etc. Its just available mega cheap because you buy for HK cutting out SpeedPassion. They are no less reliable than any other brand - indeed given that quite a few brands get their ESC made by Hobbywing they are exactly as reliable as them! But, and it is a big but, they have no UK importer so in the unlikely event that it does explode you have to get it fixed via a shop in Hong Kong. But I know quite a few users and I've never heard of one catching fire. All I hear is a rumours from people with more expensive systems looking down on it and claiming it will catch fire but nobody ever actually appears to have had it happen to them. In fact, I've seen more Nosram/LRP's go 'poof' than anything else. Edit - tell a lie. I've heard a few people killed 35A versions trying to run motors they couldn't handle. That user error though, and will happen to any ESC if you exceed its limits. The VXL is a good system for what its designed for - idiot proof first brushless system, but thats about it. Its actually not very powerful at all, the top speeds they claim are based on using 3S lipos and sky high gearing - you can easily acheive the same with most systems. The Mamba is the opposite end. Its a high sophisticated super tunable system. It can come with some trully insane motors, but it also means you really need to have some idea what you are doing Losi's sensored system is even better. Less than a proper Mamba (Sidewinders are cut down versions) with a choice of motors and loads of features, a second hand one is a good buy.
