thanks guys, and yes im about to remove the centre cvd and see if i have free movement in the diffs, also RR with a 36t spur running 6s on my setup what pinion would you suggest for top speeds? also i remember you saying my motor will be well over geared, what is the lowest gear setup i can go for top speed? also if i were to get a 2nd back up motor, what would you suggest for running 6s that would be faster than my current 2200kv? pref an xerun of somesort? and last one what would be the max ish speed with out overgearing my castle 2200kv? just getting prepared as im going to be a complete rebuild soon with new everything and a back up motor and esc as i am aiming for 90mph + but i dont think the castle 2200kv will be up to that will it? i also think im going with the gps for my speed runs as i can take speed runs by myself

edit, thanks mate ive found a complete diff on ebay for

thanks PB will be looking up loads of youtube stuff soon :)

well i just removed the centre cvd on the bottom of my revo, (the side connecting the tranny to the rear diff, as i was unscrewing the centre cvd i noticed it felt well wobbly! when i pulled it off a little shim came out also, must be from the rear diff, and now i can see loadssss of little ball bearings all around where the centre cvd connects to the diff via the bearing, now im not sure if the little shim thing is a shim from the diff or actually the bearing as i cant see no bearing at all lmao, oh boy this is going to be fun :)

If you can hold one wheel and turn the other on the back end; it won't be the internal planetary gears inside the rear diff that are broken.

And if you're getting no problems on the front then I'd doubt it would be the gearbox

I'm almost 100% sure that it's either the rear pinion gear or the ring gear on the outside of the rear diff.

EDIT: ahh, sounds like one of the bearings has exploaded then.

Here's the exploaded (excuse the pun) diagram: http://traxxas.com/s...ar_091222_0.pdf

That little 'shim' is just a seal on one of the bearings.

Unless the balls are falling out the bearing should be fine and you can push the seal back in.

Get some pictures buddy.

Ah that's just the bearing seal.

Bearings look pretty manky anyway so it might be worth replacing them, measure them and get some replacements from RCBearings.co.uk.

Only a quid each :good:

Anyway, check to see if they are smooth first, if they are then just wipe em down and put the seal back in if you don't want to replace them yet :)

Interesting to think where all that black gunk has come from though, I think your diffs may be leaking, it's not uncommon in the Revo diffs unfortunately.

thanks rr i allways get my bearings from that shop there great and i replace my bearings every month, not sure why it popped was only running 4s?

yes probablly a failed blue o ring is where the gunk is coming from lol

and i think the bearing is unsaveable as u can see the balls all over the show in pic 2 lol, i got brand new spare bearings so will pop that in, but if thats the only damage i have taken, im lucky :)

edit, thanks stock! :) will know for sure tomooz if its grease or oil :)

just re-reading posts as i skim a lot! what do you mean by mod1 gearing my friend?

It's the pitch of the gears, they are 32dp on the revo which is mod 0.5 I think.

Mod 1 gears are a bit tougher so are suitable for high power setups.

Miles off- 32pitch is mod 0.8; mod 0.5 is something like 48 or 64 pitch :D ( EDIT: I know what I meant- MOD1.5 is what 1/5 scalers use even... )

nice so i might go with a 36t mod 1 spur then, i also see that msuk sell mod 1 pinions, would i need a mod 1 pinion also?

cant seem to find mod 1 spur's on msuk tho

Naturally; you can't mix & match gear pitches as the teeth simply won't mesh properly & will strip out instantly. For your erevo, you want the mod1.0 spurs from the ( slightly older? ) nitro revo / tmaxx, maybe a few of the other nitro traxxas models use mod1.0 spurs too that fit the newer style slipper setup ( 3 mounting holes ).

thanks suicideneil, i might make a wanted thread on the look out for mod1 spurs and pinions :)

thanks roo and RR i guess ill be running 36t mod1 spur then as i doubt ill find a 34t right? just need to decide on a mod1 pinion now really.

still have not got into the bulkheads yet to examine my diff, i just bought this so a simple pop out and in should be in order, just the way i like it, well thats till i take it apart and find more damage :xd:

edit, EEK! just saw this!

True-Track + Top Speed = Bad Results

I just installed RPM's True-Track Rear A-arm kit. Not a good idea for high speed runs.

It tracks true up to 57 mph, but after that, my E-Revo would always veer to the right and then flip over. After a half a dozen flips, I gave up. Very discouraging to keep seeing your E-Revo flip over and go sliding on its roof.

Surprisingly, my Garmin Etrex GPS still works. It is really scratched up badly, but it is still functional.

I should have left the stock rear A-arms in place. The stock rear A-arms got me up to 62.8 mph and I really should have left it alone.

I should have listened to that quote, "If something works fine, don't mess with it".

i might have to get rid of the tru's for high speed drags

I don't see how truetraks caused that guy's crash really, more likely a gust of wind, torque steering, bump in the road etc- only a serious bit of flexing or failure in the a-arm or bearing carrier would cause such loss of control. As it happens, most guys doing speed-runs experience 'lurching' to one side- it is largely down to torque steer or uneven wear/ballooning on the tires, takes a lot to set a truck up to go fast in a straight line reliably.

As for Mod1.0 pinions, best ones out there are the rc-monster.com hardened steel items, or the robinsonracing.com ones- a lot of other brands use aluminium or plain steel which wears down quite quickly:

http://www.robinsonracing.com/catalog/brushless_pinion.html#one-mod

As for mod1.0 spurs that'll fit- your google foo is weak:
