My guide to TT01 Drifting

-BEZ-

Recommended Posts

ideally for drifting you want a FDR of about 6.5, the closet to this with a TT01 is a 58 Spur and 23T pinion :good: but you will find a 8.5t too pokey for drifting on plastic/resin tyres, so you would be better off running the tamiya type-d rubber drift tyres. Or get a 10.5T to 17T motor :good:

Awesome, thanks for that.

Ordered a few parts now for the build... but just found out the TT-01E kit I ordered is out of stock. Hopefully back in a week, fingers crossed as I really want the Datsun 240z shell.

About to start drifting and have moved from Buggy racing over to drifting with the legend that is TT01.

I have had one made for me by a drifter with 25 years experience so i know i am getting a goodun but this thread is brilliant for me advancing the rig myself.

Well done mat and keep them coming. You clearly know your stuff

Anybody know what size the screws are for the 2 screws that attach the diff cases to each end of the chassis at the top where the shock tower is?

Had the car apart and 2 of them have disappeared.

The Missus knows nothing about where they've gone of course >:(

I will have a look but have you considered refreshing the screws themselves? Something like http://rpcracing.co.uk/en/order?ipa=411

Might be worth doing since you will have spares also :)

be careful using machine type screws as the pitch is really fine, and it makes it very easy to strip the plastic out. A picture is alot easier to know exactly which screws you are talking about ........

But if its the ones I'm thinking about you can always drill thru and use (if memory serves, it might be 35mm ) a 30mm m3 bolt and nut to secure the shock tower the the top of the bulkhead :good:

Whats the best way to reduce the "heavy arse" effect. Weights?

Am using Adjustable Front Arms, and they seem to help me go in to a drift, but holding it im finding hard. Do the diffs make the difference as im still kinda using stock touring car setup ones

Use thinner oil on your rear shocks and softer springs. That should make it a little less responsive.

How do I set the rear toe? I already got toe out on my front wheels. Should it work better with toe in or out at the rear?

Toe in on the rear for stability mate. You can get rear hubs quite cheap on eBay that have 2 degrees on toe in.

I would link you but I'm on my phone at work.

I'll post a link later on if nobody else does.

Found the diff screws in the end :)

Got my new chassis on Friday and built it up (pics to follow)

Took it out for a few minutes today and I like it, feels a lot more solid.

Its spinning too easily though, is this because there's too much weight at the back?
