Hi all

Ive been reading about the sacage trucks for about 2 weeks now and im going to order one tonight :).

Anyone know the cheapest place to order one? ive been looking at this place here which does the savage 25 plus the kit at the bottom :

http://www.modelmaniacsonline.co.uk/produc...RTR&ManCode=835

Would this package be all i need to get up and running? ( i know ill have to get fuel from the hobby shop near me, ALSO WHICH FUEL DO I NEED! )

Been reading about the guy with problems running in his LTD edition savage....is it really that much of a pain the backside to do, bear in mind i have only ever had a few goes on my mates old tamiya nitro(suberu) and he wrecked that within a month lol)

I have a lot of patience, and im a kid at heart :D so im defo going to get one and have lots of fun with it.

Is the savage 25 a good choice for a newbie?

Any help on where to order one from and what things ill need would be cool.

cheers

I'm that guy ;) I'v done research for nearly a year as every time I got round to saving up I bought some expensive clothes or pc gear and i finally took the plunge!

It's meant to be awesome once set up correctly.

The Savage25 rtr can be had for £315 inc delivery from ben racing or get microtechracing to price match them! Just invest in another £70 and you get hell of a lot better upgrades for £387 from Microtechracing.

whats the spped difference between the two? i know the LTD edition has 3 gears...i take it the 25 has 2....is there much difference?

also what "upgrades" are needed to get me up and running from that site?

Also what the hell is this roto start...does this come with the RTR kit?

Also ill have no major probs as the model shop is 5 mins from my house....its just they charge stupid prices....the guy in there said hed help me out so im all cool with all that part of it, although id rather sort it out on my own :D

First up welcome to the forum. I myself am in the market for my first nitro (had leccys till now) & am looking at the savage k4.6. From what i hear the savage 25 rtr is a great truck & any first nitro will give you problems but the only way to get round that is experience. It's a good choice mate.

Oh and roto start replaces the pullstart, had it on both pf my nitro cars and hated it, as soon as i get my savage run in, il be back to using a pullstart, Its a bit of a [CENSORED] having to carry around it around with you.

nah i think il lgo for the 25..the guy at the shop near me said hell slap in a better engine after ive comnpletely caned the stock one :).

Just wana get used to the tuning and running of them first before i go any further.

Got to order it tonight as the missus is out and if she finds out shell kill me :)...when it arrives though there nothing she can do :).

yes but you have to build it your self...the only things ive ever built model wise are things like technic lego lol.

They are out of stock anyways...and i dnt think you get radio gear with them do you?

Ive made my mind up the 25 it is.....as i said the guy in the model shop will " sort me out" with a better engine when needed.

Its just he cant sort me out with the kit straight away...but engines and hop ups he said hell have no problem getting them for me at stupid prices :).

im gona m8...anyone with some expereince in nitro cars who wants to leave their MSN here feel free...as i think im going to need some help.

The way i see it im jumping in at the deep end.....if it goes well then hey its all good....if it goes bad then hey.....ive lost nearly 450 quid. lol

Only thing im worried about is the running in....im pretty confident of taking things apart and cleaning them etc, after run oil ive read up on all of that......its just this running in part im not so sure of, as theres seems to be loads of diff ways to do it.

Since no-one else answered I will.

The RTR Savage's do come with the roto start but you need to buy a battery pack and charger for it. For a newbie I think the roto start is better, saves you pulling the pull start right out and being knackered. Some people say you don't get a feel for what the engine is doing with the roto start, this is true, but being a newbie to nitro would you really notice any difference with a pull start. I've had nitro's since February, Savage 25RTR, and have had a pull start since July, EB4, and I still don't notice any difference.

As I have said in many other posts, follow the HPI DVD for your running in and you shouldn't go wrong. The DVD comes with the Savage.

I wouldn't pay £1.50 per minute for advice!!!!!! The going rate is £1.49 :D

Enjoy it mate.

Tony

P.S. I thought there was nothing the wife could do when I brought my Savage home, I was wrong. The only thing she said to me for 3 days was "PACK YOUR BAGS" :(
