I saw this browsing on modelsport as a kit or ARTR. Thinking about buying the kit as i have never made one i always buy RTR. I know it comes with a motor a 27t i think. Will HPI electronics from an e10 work in this? The steering servo, ESC etc? Thanks need help on this one not looking for much speed really just a bit of off road fun but i will eventually upgrade to a brushless system or something. It looks like an ideal kit for a begginer am i right?

Thanks guys this is a toughy not sure what to do. Wear out the e10 and buy this?

hey,

the gearing is a too high for any motor under 19t realy, and the front diffs have a habit of breaking when breaking, however for a begginer its a prity good kit to build and if you dont plan on going brushless its ideal, however if you do plan on going brushless id save for somthing like an e-firestorm or a rustler.

yh i kno the firstorm is good i just really want a cheap kit to see how i get on know what im mean! so if i buy a better ESC and Motor will it be good?

well because of the high gearing low turn motors get too hot, so perhaps a decent 21t, any faster and they will overheat, to fix the high gearing follow the thread on the gear conversion that would let you use a faster motor. Just be carefull when slowing down as to not mash the diff. if your just starting out into the off road world of rc, you will enjoy the flash but you must exept it for what it is :)

for a kit, the instructions are a bit pants. You might get a bad experience of kits from that. Something like a HPI kit or Tamiya would be easier to follow (although more expensive)

if you're prepared to build it based almost entirely on a few exploded diagrams, then fine. Just want to make sure your expectations aren't too high.

I built one of these a couple of weeks ago and as someone has already said the instructions are pretty crap, I found it difficult to know what screws your supposed to use and on more than one occasion I had to take bits to pieces to put the next bit together. It is a cheapy though so your getting what you pay for.

A second hand E-firestorm roller will set you back about the same as a royal flash kit, and a second hand rustler even less! I'd go for one of those over a royal flash any day.

Or, what about the mad rat? It's a higher spec, and looks much more durable. Similar to a B3 so I hear.
