Tuning Hyper 7 tq 28

Hello all

i brought my son a hobao hyper 7 tq 28 for his birthday.

i ran the engine in with byrons race fuel 25%,

car worked fine on default carb setting

the car laid idle for a while.

i recently purchased some optifuel 25% race fuel for car,

when i start the engine it fires up ok but car wants to drive away on idle,

and when we try to accelerate hard there is a fair amount of smoke and the engine dies?

any tips on how to tune this?

or anyone in SLOUGH who can help

many thanks

Russ

Its the LSN that needs slightly leaned out as its too rich at low speed and bogging the engine down. dont go mad with it just turn it 1/8th untill it can take away ok.

Then start tuning the normal way.

I live about 20 minutes away in Reading mate.

I would be more than happy to tune the engine for you and give you some advice so that you can tune it yourself in future.

If you have not changed from default settings at all the engine will be lacking in performance in a big way!

As mentioned above, it sounds like your LSN is set far too rich.

Give me a shout via PM if you want to come over at some point.

Cheers

David

have tried adjusting the lsn

but now when i start the car the engine screams at full revs then dies.

when engine is screaming there seems tobe a fare amount of unburnt fuel in the fumes

any ideas on this

thanks

Is the engine run in?

Do you know the factory settings for the engine ?

If not try to find them and return the engine to factory settings including the carb slide gap to 1mm to 1.5mm then tune from there, if you try to guess it you will be there for ever.

we ran the engine in on byron 25% race fuel

i cant find the macstar 28 6-port engine manual

to reset the carb back to standard setting

any fool proof ways of setting carb up

or any links to the manual?

many thanks

  • 1 year later...

i am 99% sure the stock needle settings are (measuring in half turns, so when i say 5, it means, 5 halfs, so count it in half turns when you adjust it)

HSN - 5 and 1:8

LSN - 11 and 1:8

like i said mate, im 99% sure, i have it written down somewhere but am normally good at remembering these kind of things.

hope this helped
