Bluebird or Hitec servo

Hello all

I’m thinking of buying a Bluebird servo (BMS660MG-HS) in preference to the popular Hitec 645mg. (to fit in my savage 4.6 when it arrives)

The specification/price ratio of the bluebird is most impressive on paper, but has anyone gained any practical experience of bluebird i.e., compatibility with servo horns/savers and any reliability issues with them?

I know that hitec can ‘talk the torque’ but can bluebird in my intended arduous environment?

regards,

is that the one with about 13kg of torque?? If it is stay away from it mine went back to the shop broken within 2 hours. The thing is i was only going steady as i was running a new engine in!

It looked to me that the metal geared servo had one plastic one in it and that was the one that had stripped. :(

The hitec one your on about is okay for bashing but when you look at the stats for it it isn't over strong nor fast (but still big improvment on stock).

Servo's are one of those things where you get what you pay for!

I have the 645MG and it is very good, best with light wheels and tyres for better performance.

The Bluebird would of being my choice, but they were out of stock. Simply because it was cheaper and better on paper.

I'd actually go with the 645. My brother has two in his LST and Kev has two bluebirds in his. Brothers car turns better, oh and kev held his wheels, turned and just tottaly stripped the gears on the bluebirds.

ive had a bluebird before and they are superb...far better than hitec's i have used in the past (which happens to be a 645)

my bluebird did fail on me but i had given it A LOT of abuse.....but it lasted longer than the 645 :D

your choice mate..i would personally go with the bluebird.

if you could afford the hi tec 945 go for that as it performs alot better that the 645 and i don't think that it'll have a plastic gear in it like i believe the bluebird one has.

You have to ask yourself about the quality of this servo that has these really impressive figures and is only £35, and other weller know manufacters are charging more than double than that to get a servo with the same stats.

Another thing to think about is the bluebird servo is a bit bigger in depth than the other servos mentioned so it may not suit all applications. :o

I have both the bluebird high speed and a hitec mg servo (£35 region, cant remember the number). The bluebird is by far my favourite, it is so fast for its price, feels like it has plenty of torque to (been in my rustler and currently in my b4). The hitec hi-torque servo didn't feel any more powerful than a bog standard unit, apart from it havin the metal gears obviously. If it were my choice, i would say bluebird, but it sounds like many have had problems with them, but mine has been faultless (even with the botton case off in the B4)
