Mad Bull

Hi. im new to this forum and just wonder if someone can help me??

Ive just received a Tamiya Mad Bull as a birthday present. It has a standard 540 motor which i want to upgrade. Does anyone the best motor to upgrade to? Preferably not to expensive.

The Madbull comes fitted with a "Mechanical Speed Control" - it has like a moving arm when you accelerate on a circuit board? Should look like this:

To get a better motor you need to replace the "Mechanical Speed Control" with an "Electric" one - so it can handle better motors. These cost anywhere around £20+. Then you can get a good motor for £30.

I recommend this Speed Control which has reverse:

When you have them, just remove the old motor and mechanical speed control - then it is just plug in and play! Then it should be nice and quick! You can get cheaper motors but won't be worth the money over performance.

The quad mag might not be the best motor option.

For an off-road car you really want to be looking at a x2 or x3 motor. A x4 one won't give you enough torque for off-road driving.

I would suggest somthing like this or this cheap option.
