Electric vs. Nitro

nick..what do you mean by out of the box.

i could build a totally stock tc4 and stick an off the shelf 12t motor in it and whoop a lot of nitros.

this is still stock..because i haven't done anything to it to make it faster

oh and that emaxx in the vid is no where near 70...my tc4 whooshes past quicker than that with a 12t in

yeah and you'd be suprised how slow an ntc3 rtr goes..well not the new plus coz its got 2 speed but the older rtr then its dog slow...and ts4ns would get a run for their money by a rtr tc3/tc4

Well i do plan to be spending bits here and there to make it better, my budget is 350 max and my local rc shop has recommended a kit including everthing and he recons its quick etc (he uses the same motor, other parts etc)

cant remember the name of the parts of the top of my head but ill get the info and post back.

electric.

When i was using my lectric with a cheapish low turn speed controller (£50) running a reedy flash point 12t (£35) it was keeping up with this kyosho, might not be much of an achivement to some people but this car ive got is heavy cheap, and i dont race

so definatley electrics

You can get 1/12th cars cheap around £100 for an Associated Rc12L3

or an RC12L4 for £150 both a rolling chassis. But wth £200 worth of electrics you could be flying around about 60mph But Associated made one do 122mph i think?

But i will get a link to prove it as i haven't got a username of rush evo!!:P

It will.

Although the only reason yours got locked is you were comparing the whole type of power and chassis, rather than just one aspect such as this thread being speed. :)

Thats why your got locked because everyone argued. :P

I'd have to go for electric. I tried nitro but as soon as i got into electric racing it just got left in the garage. You can do alot more with electrics ina confined amount of space, there are probably more places to race them in the UK and can easily be made to go as fast as most of the nitro racers.

As for which is faster, it all depends what you count as stock etc. Im sure a standard car to myself and some of the other racers would be a lot more advanced than what others would think. A high spec touring car running a 12t is fairly standard for me, and that would beat alot of the box standard nitros. Also, you seem to see most nitros bought as rtr's, where as there are alot more electrics being sold as kits. so the user has a choice of what items to fit which all affects the speed difference.

I think I'd prefere nitro, I've had tons od elecy cars as a kid and grew out of em but when I saw my first nitro I could'nt beleive it, a rc with an engine?! got me hooked

well ive decided to go electric. ordered the car today. the reason ive gone electric is because the local rc tracks are electric only. if i get really into it i could always buy a nitro one at a later date.

if i got a nitro car now i think id get bored of it because i cant compete in local races etc and it would just end up in the shed.

leccie, methinks. Its got alot more upgradeable options than nitro (brushes etc) and they just get better. Nitro is sorta restricted by the size of the car.

My new 4wd buggy with stock 540 motor goes as fast as my old 2wd with an 11t touring motor ^^ tomorow i get to try the buggy with the 11t. I pray for the best

Its never so clear cut though.

I mean i have electric, which i was (only stock 27T mind).

For bashing id prolly consider going for nitro for high speed. Its likely to cost less (ie expensive batteries not needed) altho the fuel cost might get expensive! But for racing i will stick with electric.

I want a schumacher nitro truck. 1/10th scale with a 3.5cc engine (engine size normally used in 1/8 scale cars) Needless to say its quick! 70mph quick. But you cant really compare it to a 1/10th electric stock car.....
