Skiddins
I see a lot of bodyshells on the net that have been painted in those flip/flop colours that allow the colour to change depending on the angle. I know it is available in proper car paints (I believe TVR were the first to use it) but what about model paints, or are those drivers just using the proper car paints on their bodyshells. Thanks Skiddins
Garry
Alclad and SpazStix do it for airbrushes, and Tamiya and Custom Colour do it in rattle cans. Depends of the colour of the flip though.
dazzi220
custom colours do the green/gold paint in a tin - £
Harvey
Pactra do a pearl purple. Is a purple to blue change. £2.50 for a paint pot (for airbrush), i think 3.50 for aerosol. They may do other colours not sure.

Garry
They should be. In my experience Custom Colour falls off, with or without accidents.

keir
its called pearlesant pain, think thats how its spelt anyway lol. just remember "pearl effect"
Harvey
Yeah pearlescent or however its spelt! But a pearlescent doesnt necessairly mean a crazy change in colour, often known as colour shift. The craziest of shifting colours is a process known as chromaflair. These two examples are used in automotive paint systems. I totally agree about the custom colours - dont go there. The paint falls off so easily, and the aerosol was horrible to spray! The pactra paint i used an airbrush to apply - is soo much tougher and durable. I wont be using any crappy aerosol again, and certainly not custom colour! Its just the hassle of setting up the airbrush is a pain, but its certainly worth it!
