We've each gotten a buggy rider to install in our models and I think borrowing the 'slap chop' painting method from miniature painting is going to get us the best looking results. short of air brushing at least. My GF is going to lay down a flat white base layer on hers and paint in some gloss details in her car colours. I'm going to lay down a flat black base layer on mine and paint in some gloss detail in the box art colours of my car. The idea of the makeup brushes is to keep the base layer as dry as possible going on. speeding up the process immeasurably. then glossing with the normal modelling brushes after. The reason we have so many is there are several different angles, layers and such. for instance: @Skyesgaming will be dry brushing the flat white base layer on the riders helmet then touching in some black for inside of the helmet around the dudes face then on the dudes face with the modelling brushes in the skin tone gloss. then touching up the black on the way out from there. It's complicated sure and doesn't fully follow the 'inside-out' painting method usually used. but i'm hoping for some fantastic results layering gloss on flat undercoats I would have just paint the whole guys face black as it would just look like a tinted visor as i would just ruin it anyways running it, nice to see your putting so much effort into detail

I was going to buy it as a runner IF the shell was white. I had a white Scirocco in 2014, it was probably my best ever car

I'm thinking either a TT02 or a TT02B cause they're not difficult to put together and the shell compatibility is nearly ubiquitous at this point Edited May 26, 2024 by SimplyChunk

Popular Post Skyesgaming
WELCOME BACK TO THE SEVENTH EPISODE OF: Oh Crap Its Been A While Since I've Updated, I've Fallen Behind What Did The Postie Bring @SimplyChunk (along with a special interlude from @SimplyChunk) This is unfortunately our second to last episode 😭 Better make it count. About a week ago we received 2 x 5mm baNana plug to XT60, battery balance leads, a 19 tooth and a 17 tooth module 08 steel opinion gear each, and a bunch of crap stuff that we will need for our current and future endeavors into the hobby. 2 x 5 mm nana plug to XT60 & battery balance leads: The 19 & 17 tooth steel pinion gears: And now, the long awaited special interlude! This stuff is what @SimplyChunk picked up from a bunch of cheapy shops while he was out and about today. The cheap polycarbonate paint is so I can practice on a spare body shell that Simplychunk has laying about, before I paint on my real shell. I believe he has mentioned it before in a previous post if anyone is interested in that. The last thing that we are waiting for now is some polycarbonate cleaner from Tamiya, and once that comes in that will conclude our last episode until September when we are able to post our final builds together. We are getting super excited about it 😄 The first thing that we are going to be doing when I land in the UK after getting to his flat will be building our cars and taking them for a test run 🤣 Thank you @SimplyChunk for taking me on this journey with you ❤️ I love you.

SimplyChunk
I was getting worried about how high a torque those cheap JX servos were in @Skyesgaming and I's September Tamiya builds. One is 15Kg and another is 21Kg. So I've ordered a couple of more appropriate ones. Full size, 6Kg, metal gear servos from Surpass. If the motor/ESC combo I've got in my 1/8th buggy is anything to go by they should be quite good 😄 Not only that but they're cheaper so I'll buy back the 15Kg from my girlfriend and keep it as a spare knocking about. Might be able to use it in my WLToys Edited June 5, 2024 by SimplyChunk
