Partydaz Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Yip is a cracking 1/8th scale buggy. Took it the track it was crazy fun then took it the super bumpy spare ground I take the big ones, even the UDR struggles on it that's how bumpy it is but make for crazy fun scale jumps 😄. The buggy took the rough bumpy area much better than it should the shock set up is 🥰, its not the fastest thing out there but its quick enough for me. 2 Quote

Popular Post Kpowell911 Posted May 22, 2024 Popular Post Posted May 22, 2024 Im having a break from the hobby but this came today so I thought Id update. When it was up for sale I had to buy one. No idea when Ill fit it but….. So as we all know Tamiya completely dropped the with the 40th and 45th Anniversary Porsche 934’s. The beautiful and extremely expensive 30th Anniversary is on a properly beautiful 230mm WheelBase bespoke chassis. Youd have though for Anniversaries Tamiya would have pushed the boat out but no they plonked it on a TA02 with an FRP Chassis, but only with a 236mm wheel base. This leaves the wheels sitting all wrong. I didnt cut that arch out BTW the previous owner did, luckily I have a spare genuine shell and decals. As you can see the wheelbase is all wrong. Theres a few ways of getting it right, trimming and shimming bits. Thats a bit cowboy for me, so I juat accepted it. Until now: I noticed a user on Tamiya Club selling the perfect solution. A custom 230mm Carbon Chassis, with the unnecessary unused holes removed. It includes 3D printed adapters to move the body posts so you can use existing bodyshell holes. Brilliantly priced, and arrived from the US within 10 days. Brilliant! As you can see its 6mm shorter Now my TAISAN STARCARD 993 TA02SW doesnt have the same wheelbase issue as the 934, but it has the Tamiya Hop Up Carbon Chassis kit so I thought Id compare Its beautiful when compared Unfortunately, my 934 has an FRP chassis (see below) so the shock towers wont match but its a small price to pay. I dont think I can buy Carbon Shock Towers separately. I need to shorten the main driveshaft (coat hanger style) by 6mm and flatten the end but Itll probay be the summer by the time I get round to it. 7 Quote
bunnie Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Picked up these 2 motors for less than the price of 1 to hopefully convert 2 out of the 3 hpi recons that I've had sitting in a box for years. Gonna use the escs I took from my 2 hyper go and put them to some use. If it works them my kids can bash the life out of them 3 Quote

We've each gotten a buggy rider to install in our models and I think borrowing the 'slap chop' painting method from miniature painting is going to get us the best looking results. short of air brushing at least. My GF is going to lay down a flat white base layer on hers and paint in some gloss details in her car colours. I'm going to lay down a flat black base layer on mine and paint in some gloss detail in the box art colours of my car. The idea of the makeup brushes is to keep the base layer as dry as possible going on. speeding up the process immeasurably. then glossing with the normal modelling brushes after. The reason we have so many is there are several different angles, layers and such. for instance: @Skyesgaming will be dry brushing the flat white base layer on the riders helmet then touching in some black for inside of the helmet around the dudes face then on the dudes face with the modelling brushes in the skin tone gloss. then touching up the black on the way out from there. It's complicated sure and doesn't fully follow the 'inside-out' painting method usually used. but i'm hoping for some fantastic results layering gloss on flat undercoats 2 Quote
