Garry
Use the 20t pulley if you are going to race outdoors on tarmac, the 17t if you are going to race on carpet indoors. Pinion and spur depend on how big the track is.

300ZXZ31
the biggest pinion for speed
Harvey
I race indoor with my mission and use the 17T layshaft with a 22T pinion. FDR is something like 8.2:1 i think. maybe 8.5. If anything im a little undergeared, but car seems to run well so is all good. Until i get a 23 and 24 pinion not much i can do, as my next pinion is a 25 which gives something like 7.4 IIRC. (need to check the manual). Gives a similar ratio to 22t pinoin- 20T layshaft, which before i found a bi sluggish. Might retry soon tho now i have some better cells (equalized etc) and soon to get my motor reskimmed.
Duff
the biggest pinion for speed ← yes but as i said i dont want all speed i want acsell as well so i was thinking some thing like a 25 28 tooth one
300ZXZ31
you wont really need to worry about acell on a road its just for pulling round tight corners on a track
Duff
i do a bit of drifting round cones at my place at the mo and i use a 28 tooth pinoin in my 4 tec so i was thinking put the same in the mission
Harvey
If you are going to use the 28T pinion then use the 17T layshaft. Even with the 17T layshaft your looking at an FDR of 6.5. With the 20T layshaft your looking at 5.53 which is really high! I would have said to try a 7:1 at first, but you can always give 6.5:1 a shot to see how it is first. Remember tho while gearing high might give you some top end it will run the motor hot, which is not really what you want for bashing as you are likely to run for long-ish periods of times without breaks. Also its not just a case of gearing higher = more speed. Gear too high and the motor just wont have the power to reach its full potential - and will really heat the motor up then! As i said with my 27T stock motor i currently run 22T pinion - 17T layshaft. This gives me an FDR of 8.28:1, which i think is a little low. I have a 25T which would give 7.28:1 which i think is a little high, so i have ordered a 24 pinion (23 sold out) which will 7.59:1 so hopefully that will be good
