300ZXZ31
ok the number refers to the amount of times the wire is wrapped round the comm. the lower the number of turns the faster it will be. when it says for example double or quad this is how many magnets are placed around the can. hth
mth
the winds is how many times the copper is wrapped around the armature. the amount of turns is how many pieces of wire are wrapped around the armature (for example if you have a 17x2, 2 pieces of wire will be wrapped around the comm 17 times on each segment) 300zx, when you said dbl and quad i dunno if you was referring to x2 x4 but i hope you wasn't..because that is nothing to do with magnet numbers. cans come in only 2 magnets and 4 magnets..basically 4 magnets will give more rpm and 2 magnets will give more torque. Hpi_matrix_stock
(for example if you have a 17x2, 2 pieces of wire will be wrapped around the comm 17 times on each segment) ← if it is x3 or x4 what difference does that make does it give you more torque? SprintV8 if you do upgrade your motor to one with less turns remember to buy a speed controller that can handle that amount of turns(can find cheap ones on ebay as new ones cost loads!). If you only want a little bit more speed id get a something like an team orion element or a Peak Dynasty both these will give you loads more speed (both are 19 turn) but you will need a decent speed controller and I think you may need to upgrade the drive shaft on your car but im not sure about that. hope iv helped and not confused you
Harvey
I may be wrong but im sure MTH will correct me if i am, but.... Take for example a 12 turn motor. I believe a 12x1 will be no faster flat out then say a 12x5, but the 12x1 will get there quicker/ puts down more torque making it better for a high grip track, while a 12x5 will mean you are less likely to break traction out of slower corners. mth
harvey hit the nail on the head there. the higher the number after the X it will have a smoother powerband and will have slightly less torque.
