Brushless

Welcome to the forums dude!

Nice to have a brushless wiz on the boards.

What do you use these B/L systems in? I am wanting it for the E-Maxx, so the motors you have suggested seem to be more touring/buggy RCs. I have being looking at the Feigao 9L and Warrior 9918 setup, but I am now intrested in the 10L motor.

come again. welcome to forums

The first system that I got was a hacker brushless system about 2 years ago which included the then new c40 8s motor and a master car sport controller I was always disappointed with the low end torq of this system as it seemed that the powerband didnt really even start until the car was travelling about 5mph. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere the power to your wheels seemly doubled making accelerating through corners interesting to say the least. Its reliability had to be commended though with not one hitch despite being run during the summer in what I used to call the motor cooker TB01. The one thing the hacker controllers seem to do well with there 54 fets is brake the brakes on this system were unbelievable 4 wheel lockups were possible even with decent tires.

how much does this brushless system cost cos someone on the smami bar site had that thing on there stampede and it looked great fun

the thing ive found with the bigger can, smaller kv rating motors is that they have alot more torque than say a 300 sized can rated at 6800kv. therfore you can turn a bigger pinion and get your speed/acceleration from that.

i posted a electric powered hyper 7 vid awhile ago with a brushless and i bet it would blow my hyper into the weeds

Because the E-Maxx is rather heavy - a motor with more torque is going to give it more speed than one with little torque.

If you want your E-Maxx brushless Adam, you need to bullet-proof your drivetrain - costs around £180 just to do that. :)

After seeing my E-Maxx run on 14 cells the other day, I am more relaxed about getting a brushless system - It is something I don't need as soon as I thought. :D

the best brushless systems around are

Novak 5800 ss for 1:10 trucks or buggies or even tourers

Mamba 6800 or somin like that the top of the range one for 1:18 trucks, cars and mini monsters!!

Novak ss: its good and quik but you can only use up to 7 cells where as some brushless system's can take up to 18 cells!!

the more cells the more top speed!!

also if you want a quik but cheap brushless system have look at model rc plane brushless system's!!

hope this helps you guys out

You can't use what I am talking about in a Rusty, lol.

Yea you can, loads of people have done it.

Try a C50 with 12 cells, bin done in a rusty.

I think the top speed in a rustler was about 70.3mph, and you don't get that from using a 17turn and a m tronics sprint.

JC - I was talking about the Feigao 9L, that in a Rusty would be very slow. Hackers are different.

Novaks brushless systems arn't the best in buggies, if you want proper power look at the Feigao and Hacker range. Novak just can't compare.

More cells do not always mean more speed. It is more torque than speed because more current is going through the system.

Yea ok, thing is not many people use hackers and that, and if it fries you have to send it back to germany and they take their time about fixing it.

And theres the cogging to put up with

Sorry about not replying in a while sort of forgot about this forum and my post.

At the moment the best forum on the net for brushless info and discussion is

http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/forumdisplay.php?f=335

All the latest stuff and brushless mad people like myself post on that forum.

Firstly the hacker C40 motors are expensive but lehner basic motors are as good (thinking of picking one up myself) and you can get them from bk electroniks for about 102 euros.

http://www.bk-electronics.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=1132

A note on the warrior escs there how can I put it know for being **** with low cell counts and there software is regarded as appalling compared to the new crop of escs from the likes of sculze, MGM, Hacker(jeti)

Feigo motors are cheaper than lehner but afaik no one is importing them to here so that’s out of the question plus lehner motors are much better (german engineering vs chinese take your pick).

At the moment the combo if I was start from new for 1/10th would be along the lines of a 5300 basic with a MGM compro 80amp version. I have been informed by my fellow brushless nuts on rczone that these controllers are almost as good as the schulze you-force controllers but @ about half the price.

Mgm are meant to be releasing a version at some point that can have its software updated via a serial connection for which updates will be released via the internet. Now that’s cool.

For people in the uk the M-troniks brushless controllers look to be very likly to be the ticket with only having to send the controller back to a uk address for repairs making users like much easier.

Alot of people have been concerned with the power ratings specified by M-troniks for the gensis sport (I Think they were overly conservative) but the user studdysession on rczone says he has tested it with a c40 6s which in 1/10th brushless world is pretty hot motor to say in deed. I hope to obtain one of these at some point and give it a damn good thrashing and maybe record some vids.

Currnently im running the hacker system in an academy SB semi pro needless to say I need to change the pig iron diff plates as soon as my order arrives with my new diff parts.

I am also running a supersport in my scumacher axis 2 with a very powerfull 40mm fan strapped to the top it with its own power supply. Needless to say no matter what gearing I use that esc dont over heat.

The problem with my new hacker controller is that its so small that I would need a 30mm fan to fit how I would like. Any fan under 40mm cost dollar im talking about £10.

Another thing these gp3300 cells rock they just don’t get hot when being used for even like 10 mins (oh did I say that brushless systems tend to be more efficient as well) whereas Sanyo 2400s when run to dump get hot.

Got me some gp3700's on the way yay!!

A little moan why is it all the best rc car transmitters are gun type I hate them and I like sticks but all the expensive stick transmitters I have tried are made for rc aircraft and are **** for cars as having sticks moving on two axis’s can be confusing.

I had to almost reengineer my acoms techiplus 4 to how I like.

I havent run a feigo but the general opinion is that they are bassically clones of the older hacker motors.

If your after insane power you could get yourself a c40 6s with a mgm 120amp version which will be as fast as anything for 1/10th with 6 cells (faster than a 8 turn brushled i have been told).

The car i am currently running the hacker system in is a off road 4wd buggy called the sb sport but with many upgrades.

review of sb sport

My system if you were to buy it off the rip off merchant gordon tarling would cost you £199 for the controller and £115 for the motor.

I paid 220 for the master car sport controller and c40 8s

I recently bought the new master-b comp for £123 off of ebay.

A german dude called mr constructor on rczone forums sells the mgm controllers and i think the 80amp version is about £120 and is as good as my hacker master car competition just not in as nice enclosure.

if you plan to run 14 cells which is 16.8v then i would recomend a 2400kv motor like this one that would take you to about 40krpm which is the seetspot for brushless motors at the moment (exceed 65k and your rotor could explode)

http://www.bk-electronics.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=1136

most of the decent controllers can only do 12cells so personally i would use 12 cells so i could use a decent controller.

i would then use a mgm 80amp controller with the following lehner basic.

http://www.bk-electronics.com/catalog/prod...roducts_id=1137

The 80 amp controller should be ok as the lower kv motors draw less current when accellerating.

hope this helps

The mtroniks controller is a sensorless controller and thus you can use any 2 pole 3 phase brushless motor with it.

The novak controller is a sensored brusless controller needing sensored motors such as novaks or the new ready one due to be released this summer.

I have used the novak 5800 with my hacker controller although it worked fine i think the timing on my controller was not ideal and throttle response was not as smooth as i would have liked.

edit: i really should stop posting when i have just got up lol

Well i just won a genesis sport on ebay for £43 so on friday i will be giving this controller a damn good testing with my C40 8s.

aspects that i will be paying particular attention to are:-

How well it copes with a reasonably hot brushless motor

Does it cog less than the new hacker controller?

Is it esier to drive than the hacker?

Also for a laugh i will test it on the ss5800 motor to see how it performs with that motor.

Basically im being a genie pig for you guys as there is so little info on these controllers from peope who have used them.
