Cabello 1/10 scale crawler

Recommended Posts

I seen this on a deal on aliexpress from £130 delivered to me and apart from aaa batteries for the control it was properly rtr, i was a bit skeptic as you know the saying if its too good to be true it probably is, but this thing is an exception to this, for the price its well made, well put together and all in its decent, so this is what i received for my money which you have probably seen already

i tried it outside and its pretty good, get a fast walking pace on high range and nice n slow on low and a decent trail truck, but being the hobby we cannot leave them alone for long, first mod was my favourite yipin 80kg servo which could have been a no go as 1 thing this truck doesnt have is a servo reverse switch which never occurred to me until i thought i may need it, but luckily both servos went the right way

next was a cheap foc Hobbywing 2 in 1, no point buying a motor that cost the same as the truck is there, i was pleasantly surprised with a metal spur gear, 1 thing though is the original motor shaft and a big bevel on it so the pinion would not swap across, i had the oe pinion from the trx4 so fitted that and reassembled, the way the motor is held in place and the way you mesh pinions is exactly the same as the trx4

i had some brass stuff for the trx4 which i had swapped out from heavier so tried them on, perfect fit

so this car has locked front and rear diffs and since the brass fitted perfectly thought i would compare a trx4 axle, looks the same to me, even has blanks where the shift cables go through

Had some used axle armour laying around, that went on too

decided to have a look inside the steering servo and was pleasantly surprised what i found, even had teeny orings on the screws

i also had lying around some soft sweep tyres and weighted fastrax wheels and this is what it looks like now

I am really surprised at what i got for the price, this has a winch that appears to be capable to pull the weight of the vehicle, side lights, headlights, roof light, indicators which are even on the mirrors, brake light and reverse lights, you can turn all the lights completely off or on from the transmitter, 2 speed gearbox with metal gears everywhere and trx4 compatibility for spares so its got a lot going for it and a 1/3 of the price as the trx4! Ok i dont think the model on the whole is waterproof and the transmitter doesnt have servo reversing but it was £130 to my door, its a no brainer!

Wow that looks a bargain!!

just enough small differences so as not to attract the Traxxas lawyers though.  I guess with NO r&d to pay for Cabello might be on a winner with this..

Looks much better for the wheel & tyre combo you have gone for too.

What a bargain! 😃 the blooming Traxxas light kit for my bronco is £80 plus alone 😵 which I nearly spat my brew out when I saw that price 😑

Cracking copy... er I mean original intellectual property 😅.

different GIF

I’ve been wanting another crawler for a month or so now. Was hoping to sell a few cars and get a trx6. Might just get two of these and make on up on some trx6 rails!

do you know what wheelbase this cabello has?

I have seen on aliexpress a 6x6 landrover made by austarhobby with a very detailed shell that again looks trx6 compatible, there is another too yikong i think the brand is for the same sort of money which is £380ish but when there is deals on it will come down but have no experience of it so dont know if its any good, it certainly looks good though.

will measure the wheelbase when i go outside to my workshop

Really love the look of that, trouble is I'm trying to downsize the collection due to lack of storage space, ,😕

Yes I think the austarhobby ones are clones. I read about the 4m clone somewhere a while ago. But it’s nice to see a genuine review of this wltoys one.
