Spur gear for maverick DT?

BUDFORCE

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a decent quality steel spur gear for a Maverick Strada DT, but im looking about and the sites don't make it obvious as I think there are different spur gears for different Strada models.

for example:

https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/1363081?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAzvC9BhADEiwAEhtlN3DjYNEeZlOk8ydmhSp4qh8oDVAr2SJ2fQDSO9iUj6s83Jawiab8fhoCCdMQAvD_BwE

But the Strada DT ISNT listed as compatible.

And neither does this one:

https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/rw-maverick-quantum-48t-32dp-machined-acetal-spur-gear-upgrade-for-mv150137-1336970

Any ideas?

going by the spares on the DT page this one

says

  • Compatible With DT and XT range

Yea that's a plastic one and they don't last.

I emailed into modelsport and they said themselves they don't have a metal or steel one that will fit a Strada dt.

You dont need a metal one on an RC like this. Plastic is fine, you need to establish why youre having an issue with plastic, because switching to metal is just going to cause you much bigger issues.

Are you meshing correctly?

the correct metal spur https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174498146792

the pinion you will need to match https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174804079400

Legend thanks mate, yes I already have the RW racing pinion.

I havnt fitted anything yet, the pinion and spur turned up realised the spur was plastic and the pinion steel - hence wanting to get a steel one to match.

I will check that carefully this time, you might be right though looking at teh mangled one it does look a little loose.

It's not got the standard motor and ESC setup in it, I originally purchased the brushed motor (blue car) version, but the standard motors on those are awful and fail, I got through 2 or maybe 3 motors in a reasonably short space of time, before giving up and upgrading to a brushless ESC and motor combo - which means I can also run in on 2s Lipo's.

I put an Etronix Photon system in, I cant remember exactly which one but I do rememeber doing a bit of research and getting one that was sensible in terms of power and torque/speed ratio.

Other than running the car for literally 30 minutes I cannot remember how long the existing pinion/spur was in, because it was probbably a good year at least since I had run the car.

Must admit though, lovely little car this one, particularly with the brushless setup. It's like an FTX Outlaw that doesn't break all the time.

make sure the pinion is mod 0.6 to match the spur, the plastic spurs and shiny gold standard pinions are mod 0.8

Yup definitely the .6 steel pinion I have already. Cheers
