Partydaz Posted February 20 Share Posted February 20 (edited) Greetings 🙂 Been looking into a rally car for a bit but nothing is giving me ohhh buy it now!!! feeling. I have seen these on modelsport for £239, thinking it would be a cool project to turn into a full blown rally car. says its a rally car but seems all on road marketing. Hobao seem like a good brand plus 1/8th scale is spot on for the areas I run. Thinking 6s system 2000kvish motor run on 4s and 6s if I wanna slam into tress and near miss squirrel's running around the woods 😃. For around 3 years Pre-COVID I used to race a Hobao Hyper GT and a longer wheelbase GTB - I can't stress just how tough the Hyper GT is! I think in the 3ish years all I broke was one front camber link, and I think that was because the turnbuckle wasn't adjusted properly. Mine has the side guards from the buggy and also has the longer shock shafts in the front shock bodies and rear springs on the front. The only other recommended upgrade I didn't get round to fitting was the buggy front shock tower. I think the rollers come geared for 4s with a 48T spur and a 18T pinion. To run 3s, I took the spur down to 46T so I could get pinions up to 25T in! If you're after bodyshells, the Delta Plastik 325mm wheelbase replica rally bodyshells fit the GT fine, though to import them from Italy yourself is expensive! I've attached a pics of the original Hobao bodyshell and a few of the Delta Plastik bodyshells I had mounted to my Hobao GT. I took a break when COVID hit, but returned to regular racing in January '23, but I have a Mugen MGT7 now. I still have the Hyper GT and the GTB on my shelf. The shock shafts are H90030 and the springs are the GT rear springs which are H90078.
