Traxxas Slash constantly breaking

Hi there

new to RC cars. Just bought a traxxas slash 4x4. It was great, and then just stopped running. The motor is turning but it’s making a high pitch whine and isn’t driving the wheels.

only has it two days so called the shop and they thought it was the Slipper clutch adjustment.

I’ve tried tightening it. It ran for a few minutes and then stopped again.

Is there anything much advice as to what could be wrong.

Apologies if I haven’t explained it very well. I don’t know all the correct terminology yet!

thanks for any advice.

Andy

how odd, a lot of people say traxxas are tough and dont go wrong ha ha

right the high pitch noise and motor spinning but no drive sounds like the pinion gear on the motor has worked loose you will need to take motor out to check also you will need to make sure the mesh between pinion and spur gear is set right

Follow where the drive ISNT going

So if the Pinion is turning

Look at the spur - then the shafts the spur turns

if it Goes into a diff, is the input cup spinning but not getting a diff output

Well

there is the issue

but if getting a wheel and nowts happening

it could be a drive pin / stripped hex for example

it could be a dog bones missing

a CVD which has sheered in the cup

upload a video even, to see if we can spot where the drive is been lost....

The slash was a monster of a basher truck, very popular...

but like all cars even traxxas, something does break

The rustler for example was a swine for Sheering the differential input gear pin

meaning the drive entered the gearbox but didn't come out

it was spinning the shaft inside the 1st gear....

This hobby, things break

Getting your fingers in there and finding out what's wrong is great way to really know your truck!!

Thanks. The pinion gear and spur gear are meshing and turning.

so I think the problem is further down the chain.

Is the pinion rotating the motor though?

It's very likely to be a loose/lost grub screw somewhere, so maybe on the pinion or another shaft.

Happens with just about any RC so it's good practice whenever buy an RC to go through it all and locktight all screws which are into metal threads.
