Mr Bowcat
Afternoon all. Just after a bit of general advice. I have an old 1/10 nitro buggy (HoBao Pirate 10) that I'm vaguely thinking about converting to brushless. This is just for a bit of fun and to learn something about electric RC. I don't want to spend loads so I'm looking at budget motors and ESC's on Amazon. What I really need to know is what sort of motor and ESC to get. Amazon has some cheap DollaTek combos, 3300kv motor and 60amp ESC, for 2s batts. Would this work or should I be looking at higher or lower kv motors, and hsoudl I be looking for motors that will handle 3 or 4s? Also, would I be better of looking at Bangood or AliExpres for this stuff? As you can probably tell I'm a complete newbie to electric, so any advice gratefully received. Lone-wolf
Banggood would be a god place to source motor and esc, see if you can fit a 3660 size motor about 3300 for 2S or a bit lower kv for 3S, get best highest amp esc you can afford
Mr Bowcat
Thanks for that. 🙂
Ziggy122
Motors are KV rated per volt 1v & 2000kv = max motor will spin is 2000rpm so a 6v battery & 2500kv motor would be 15000rpm the motor could reach 2s is 7.4v 3s is 11.1v Tend to find smaller models use higher KVH setups often 1 or 2 cells lipos doesn't mean they can't use 3+ but it's all preferences Bigger use Lower kvh and often higher cell lipos..... Usually most say don't exceed 100,000rpm on the motor.... Getting gearing right also is the next step As heating up can be an issues Bigger amp esc the better too, less likely to burn it out! Always ask if your unsure! we're happy to help a fellow member out!! #TeamMSUKForum Ziggy
Mr Bowcat
Thanks Ziggy, In terms of ampage, when you say bigger, what sort of scale are we talking. What is considered "big"? The ESC's I'm browsing tend to be either 60 or 120.
