Participants for a documentary wanted!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Admin – I hope this is okay to post here. Please let me know if it should be in a different section.

I’m Ben, a video producer at Transmission, a London-based video production company specialising in TV advertising and brand films.  We're currently developing a documentary series and the pilot will be focused on RC cars and racing. I’ve always been fascinated by the creativity and passion in this space, which is why I’m reaching out to connect with people who really know their stuff.

On a personal note, I’m getting into RC myself and thinking about picking up an RC crawler to take through muddy puddles and forest trails—maybe even a few jumps here and there. But that’s for another time! If anyone has tips on getting started with that, I’d love to hear them.

For the documentary piece, we’re focusing on the racing side of RCs because it’s dynamic, full of tension, and makes for great storytelling. We’re looking for three participants based in mainland UK, ideally within a 2-3 hour commute of London who are preparing for an upcoming race. We’d love to film at your homes, document the build process, learn what makes you (and your car) tick, and tell your story. As with most things, it’s really about the people behind the passion.

What we’re looking for:

    •    Enthusiastic individuals passionate about RCs and racing

    •    Willingness to be interviewed on camera

    •    Footage of you working on your car, plus race day coverage

If you’re part of a group or racing community, even better—we’d love to capture that dynamic and make the race even more thrilling to watch.

Interested?

Drop a comment below and send me a short video introducing yourself, showing your car, and telling me why you’d like to be part of this project. We'll then reach out to those who we feel have the most compelling stories and arrange a remote video call.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or stories you’re happy to share. I’m really looking forward to chatting with you all and learning more about the RC community!

P.S - As members of this community it's really important to me that we create something that you would want to engage with and watch so please let me know your wider thoughts on some MUST capture moments or techniques you may have picked up over the years.

Cheers,

Ben

This sounds great! I'm excited to watch it, I'm going to mention it to some friends who race. 👍🏻

Please do. I'm really interested in telling real stories with real people. They don't need to be the best racers, as long as they're really passionate then they'll do fine. That's what this is all about for me and the team here.

Thanks mate. If you know anyone please direct them to this thread, really keen to make this happen and tell your stories.

In terms of the car for me... I am thinking of going down to Crawler World to get a taste for it, what are your thoughts?

Hi and welcome to the forum :good:

Sounds interesting and looking forward to seeing the video

As for crawlers theres FTX , FMS and Traxxas amongst others also theres various scales as well from 1/24th up to 1/8 but majority are usually 1/10th

no doubt others will chime in with their prefered brands
