Transmitter suggestions please

Recommended Posts

Looking to buy a new Tx setup and wanting some ideas please.

For context, years back when got back into running RC cars again and moved to 2.4Ghz I bought a Core RC Tx from Modelsport that allows multimodel setups, programming and 3 channels. Hobbyking used to sell affordable Rx's, but for years now I've been unable to find an Rx that works with it:

I do have 4 models on this Tx, but feels such a let down that the Rx's stopped being supported when the handset can do something like 15-20 models.

Because of this a good number of years back I bought on recommendation from a forum a FlySky FS-i6 as it was very affordable and you can get Rx's for under £8 normally. I now have 15 models bound to this Tx. The Tx is really meant for planes/helicopters, I bought a spring kit to change it to a regular forward/backwards left stick instead of a plane style throttle.

The Tx has been great, but I'm aware I now have a lot of egg in one basket should anything happen to it. And while it is programmable, it doesn't have features like ABS that the Core RC does and most feature are more aimed at planes.

I'd like to potentially buy into a new Tx system that I can start binding multiple models too.

Must haves:

-Multi model programmable

-Sensible initial purchase price

-Plentiful supply of cheap/affordable Rx's that aren't likely to disappear this time next year

Ideally I want another stick setup.... but aware most people use the unintuitive wheel & trigger setups these days. So open to all suggestions initially. But hoping there are still some stick options.

As some of you may have seen my other thread with the firmware fiasco on a Traxxas Slash Ultimate. I have bound another TQi Tx and driven the vehicle and the TSM makes a huge difference to the trucks ability. So I'd like any new radio system to have potential provision for this. I know you can get separate Gyro's (I have a couple already). But having the ability to tweak the TSM on the fly from the Tx was very handy. As I understand it, TSM is only a steering gyro and doesn't alter throttle, but please correct me if wrong.

I'm also in the stick camp but the selection is limited for cars, sanwa and futaba both have some top end radios, but the normal range of sticks is aero biased so unfortunately you've got to adapt, there are some radios that take micro SD cards but I can't recall which and some like the flysky fs-6x are open source but I can't find a program for it to be ground

Not so sure the Flysky FS-6x range is open source, i have been using them in both versions for a long time and never heard that said
