Fast Fast Charger….

Hello, I really want to start using my RCs more in 2025. I currently have this charger, which is fine and charges 4 lipos at once.

https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/gt-power-x4-charger-4-x-100w-quad-charger-313691/

However when it comes to my 4S Lipos I want something a bit faster. Ideally I want to charge 2x 4S 5000mah Lipos at 8-10amps at once. Giving me 2 fully charged 4S Lipo’s in less than an hour.

Ive been googling all morning and found what I thought was perfect but it does 6S Only strangely? So thats out.

It also appears that despite what they advertise, most AC Chargers need an external DC Power Supply to make the most of charger. I found the Hota P6 Pro, but that needs a DC power supply to make the most of it so

So far Ive found this.

ISDT P20, which I believe is this one

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0C4NQ3YW4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2SG9PRGUEJTN8&psc=1

But Im struggling to find a suitable power supply (off the shelf option, I dont want to make my own)

Any ideas?Thanks

I got the hota f6+ which is a 1000w ac/dc quad charger. It will do 500w on ac or 1000w with a dc supply. Maximum of 15a charge current. You can charge 2 batteries at <250w or 4 at <125w. So you could potentially charge 2x 15,000mah batteries or 4x 7500mah at 1c.

It can also do regenerative discharge so you can charge from other lipos.

only cons in my opinion are the painfully slow display and slow discharge rate. But once you know your way around the menus you can just go on the beeps and wait for the display to catch up.

i got mine here;

https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/hota-f6-quad-channel-1000w-acdc-charger

it’s a bit cheaper on Banggood. In fact they have a new user bonus making it £108 at the moment!

Hota also do the d6 pro which is similar but only dual channel, 2x100w on ac. Would do 2x 6000mah 4s at 1c and is half the price

Just to confirm on AC with supplied power cable it would do 250w x2 so I could charge say 2x 4s 5000mah batteries at 10a?

Yes it will put 250w max to ports 1&2 and 3&4. So if you want 250w you need to use one from each side if that makes sense? If charging 4 batteries you will only get a max of 125w at each port. You could charge 2x 125w on ports 1&2 then use 3 or 4 to get 250w on a 3rd battery.

Thanks, this is looking like the best option for me

Oh a thread i can comment on right i would say avoid ISDT chargers, good when new but dont tend to live for a long working life, a mate has had a fair number go dead

I highly recommend Toolkit RC chargers been brilliant for me, maybe this one would do your needs and if you look on the page they do a DC power supply

Is that power supply not far too weak? The ones Ive looked at are £200ish?

maybe for what you are wanting to do, TBH i just linked the larger PSU as you mentioned one, i use the smaller toolkit PSU and find it very good, i can charge a 4S 3000mah in about 60 mins or less, i use the smaller M6 charger

I did a lot of shopping around before i bought the f6+. I couldn’t find anything comparable on ac for under £200. Anything else comparable performance wise were only dual chargers.

The Hota can also be used as a 5-29VDC power supply with max 250w/15a. Used mine to run a portable fridge a few weeks ago.

Isn't DC side more focused on those who bash off grid/ No AC available? so charging off a 12v car battery for example?

and going DC to DC is alot easier voltage changes vs changed AC to Dc (which is alot easier vs going DC to AC)

And to Note 1 power supply in and multiple OUTS, meaning something has to give or you need one hell of an supply in!

If I got another charger, I'd look at Dc only and using a power supply, as the power supply can be used for other things too!

My understanding is DC is not only for charging off grid, but with the higher wattage it will hold the higher amp charge rate for longer. Ultimately it will charge quicker than ac.

I guess it’s more efficient when it doesn’t have to switch currents?

I don’t think I’ll bother with a dc power supply for mine. Unless I convert the 5iveT to brushless😈

If Im honest Im not sure what I want exists? Im not sure wether spending a few hundred is worth it if its not going to be much better than 4x100w from AC which I currently own?

Theres not a lot out there that will do more than 4x100w. A good few dual chargers than can hit 250-300 watts, but not quad. Honestly mate I shopped around for days, which is an eternity to an impatient man like me! You can’t do better than the Hota f6+ or d6 pro for the price.

Maybe a dc only charger with homemade power supply will get you more bang for your buck. It’s not something I’ve looked into myself.

were you planning to charge in the field or just at home? when i was flying planes not so long ago if i was going for a bit of a day and taking maybe 3 models i would start charging a couple of days in advance just using one single port charger

Only at home maybe I just need to prep better. I bought my quad charger in 2020 I just expected there to be some AC 500wx 2 chargers by now admitedly for big money but it seems not. It seems tech hasnt moved on as much as I expected

So a kinda compromise…..

I found a brand new old stock Corally Eclips Duo 2400. I paid a little over £100. Its brand new and I believe was £300+ at some when realised. I think its a Sky RC Ultimate D400 in a different colour…..

Itll do 300w X1 or 200w X2 so is much faster than what I have, and hasnt broke the bank.

However, its clearly brand new as described but its missing the power cable…. He is going to look for it, hopefully can find it if not itll have to go back….

If he cannot find it could you make your own, even if you cannot find the same sort of connector for the rear port, change the port on the back as well?

Its just a kettle lead but this is quite powerful so I want the proper genuine one to be sure.

Just one of these
