Hello Everybody!

So I recently got into the RC hobby by buying a cheap second hand Tamiya Rising Fighter. Taking advice from some friends and the internet, here is the progress so far.

This is the original car from pretty much stock.

Forgive me Tamiya purists, but I hated the standard and IMHO, dated stickers so they had to go. This is just after a particularly muddy bash in the park!

Primed and ready to paint. All colour materials from Eurocar Parts.

Again, I know there will be haters but I added some imitation carbon fibre to the otherwise plain shell which worked well against the VW Shadow Blue.

Replacement oil filled shocks from JKRC.

Hex adaptors for the front wheels.

Not shown but I added a HPI Fire bolt 15t 540 motor and a Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 ESC, courtesy of the very helpful Modelsport, as well as a 17t steel pinion from All Electric RC. Probably unnecessary for general running but I also put an MJX Hypergo Gyro for speed run stability and a waterproof box for when the car accidentally goes swimming!

Here is the semi finished Rising Fighter with the gold painted standard Astral Dish wheels.

Took advantage of the beautiful sunset!

The original Astral Dish wheels and tyres didn't help with the increased torque so I changed them for these which gave better grip and control. I also encased the standard 2 mm steering rods in 3 mm stainless tube to reduce the risk of bending as they're very weak.

22 mph achieved with full charge of NiMH battery.

So that's it so far for Project RF. Any thoughts on where I should go next?
