Help with fitting electrics on huge rc tugboat

I’ve got a huge rc tugboat! 54” long, huge car blower fan motor, 120mm single brass prop!

it has a raboesche bow thruster and 2 old school speed controllers which I want to change to modern ones. It’s run of a 12v sla and the bow thruster has a 7.2v stick pack. Ideally I’d to run the bow truster on the 12v sla rather than the 7.2v pack. Would I be able to just have one esc or would I need 2?

Youl need 2 esc's , 1 for the main motor and 1 for the bow thruster ( check current and voltage )

the transmitter and receiver will need to be a minimum of 3 channels main motor , thruster and rudder

will you be using a stick type transmitter ?

As for running the thruster of 12v youl need to check its rated for 12v

Yes I have a 6 channel stick transmitter, the bow thruster is rated for 12v so that’s fine. So how would I connect it all together? Would I have to cut one of the red wires on a esc where they connect to the receiver?

you dont need to cut the red wire , you can disconnect the red wire out off the plug and tape it up to the other wires just in case you need the esc for something else in the future but yep you dont want both esc becs supplying power to the receiver
