Team Associated Rival MT10

Hi all,

I'm looking for an MT10 as a Christmas present for my son. Ideally it should be in decent condition since it's a gift (from Santa), but since he's going to batter it anyway it doesn't need to be perfect.

A bundle including 2+ batteries would be great. I'm less interested in a charger if it doesn't support EC5 and IC5 too because I'm planning to get an Arrma car for myself.

I'm based in Surrey but happy to travel for a good deal.

Thanks!

There's a few on eBay at the moment or ask in the mt10 community on Facebook to see what's on the market, but as an mt10 owner set up right they are tanks

Seeing some of the absurd prices people are asking for (well) used examples, I'd be inclined to just bite the bullet and buy new, seen them for under £300.  Lot less stressful and removes the risk of buying a lemon.

I'd go for the brushed one and upgrade the motor and esc if I was buying again because all the drive train is the same as the brushless one or get the sc10 pro 4 which is the longer wheelbase short course version of the mt10

Does Santa visit Surrey? Always thought it was Father Christmas, or has the USA truly taken over the World now 😞

Can't really help with your question. I'd have thought 3S would be way more power than needed. 2S is plenty, certainly for a first time RC'er. I'd also budget to maybe strip and rebuild some bits. I've bought a couple of used RC cars in the past. And tbh they were generally more hassle than they were worth. Even with claims of hardly used.

We're not all British in Britain 🙂

Thanks for the advice. Seems like the consensus is to buy new, and to go for the brushed version. Is £279.99 a good price for it? Seems like stock is difficult to come by and the brushless version is far easier to get.

If the brushed was actually readily available in the UK, and the brushed/brushless price difference was greater, as it is/was in the States (they were blowing the brushed version out at Tower for some crazy low price, 179 usd springs to mind - £140!!!), then I'd defo go brushed and pop my own 3S system in.

As it is right now here in crazy old UK, for 20/30 quid I'd just pony up for the Brushless.

Thanks 🙂 The price difference is a bit bigger than that because there's a £30 difference for the car, but the brushed version includes a battery which is worth a few quid. My guess is that the difference is only £50.

I think I'm still going to go for the secondhand one listed here. Fingers crossed🤞

The car price difference is only 20 quid (280 vs 300), and the standard battery that comes with the brushed is only a 3300mah, so won't get much run time out of that before you and your lad have to trudge home to wait the 15 hours before the battery charges back up again on your rtr charger...

You can get a 5200mah Zee hardcase 2S lipo for a little over 20 quid from amazon, so for 40/45 more you have a much better car and a much longer lasting / better battery.

Obviously if the used one checks out then that's a bigger saving, don't use FB now so I can't comment.  Good luck.

Obviously you'd need a hobby grade charger too if you went the new route, but if you plan on staying in the hobby then that's a must anyway.  They pop up used on here from time to time for 20-30 quid (for a basic 50w one).

I was planning on ordering the Gens Ace iMars D300 because I'll be getting a car for myself too, and there's very little this charger can't do. I prefer to buy something good upfront rather than upgrading quite quickly after the initial purchase.
