MAZ
I had to glue my Hyper ST tyres onto the rims the other day. First try didn't go well as I used the wrong type of glue (its all I had at the time so thought I'd give it a go) - total waste of time.. Got some gorilla glue to try again and just urgh.. its not gone well Gel glue is not the way forward.. The gel glue is too thick and the setting time is almost instant which isn't what I needed at all l Those blue bits are parts of the nitrile gloves I was wearing so as not to glue my fingers to the tyre/rim I'm just about to order some thinner glue that has a slightly longer drying time - this stuff: SLOW DRY Ammo Mig / Colle21 Super Glue Cyanoacrylic for a slower setting, 15 seconds, 21 g with precision cannula for model making and DIY. https://amzn.eu/d/4WClD8n I've also had a look on youtube at some tyre gluing vids to get some tips - gel glue isn't advised lol Just wondering if anyone has got any advice or tips on how to glue tyres without making an utter mess out of them? Cheers 🙂
wolfie1
Get the tyre sitting on the rim correctly then just push a little bit back at a time, go sparingly on the glue and take your time
SimplyChunk
tyre gluing is just one of those things you have to build up a 'knack' for. I've been in this hobby for over 20 years now and still make a mess from time to time. I use this glue which I get from my LHS They also supply these precision nozzles too which help minimise the flow of the glue. That reminds me I've got to pick some more of these up when I'm down there next. So thanks for that. As @wolfie1 says. Put the tyre on the rim completely. Then just tease back the tyre and drop a little of the glue in. If you put a little too much there are two things you can do. You can left the tyre off the rim a little further forward on the tyre as you lower the previous part of the tyre back on the rim. What this does is create some space for the excess to go. The other thing you can do is keep some kitchen roll handy fold it a couple of times and before you wipe the excess wet it with your spit. What this does, if done right, is stop the kitchen roll sticking to the tyre when it touches the glue. Hope this helps 🙂 Also, wear eye protection you don't wanna glue your eyelids shut 😉 < like this dude did

Redback
i love beadlocks 🤪 gluing to me is ruining a set of nice tires i can put on other rims at the drop of the hat, why do people still glue? edit: ugh 1/8th yeah horrible, very thin in the lip and drop it in, or pre mount and glue the outer bead with very fine cappilary super glue, you can see it spead along the seam, apply at 1, 2, 3 o'clock and so on. Ziggy122
Nitro we got away with Hot Glue Gun applications.... but there are many a time, I've stuck projects to the table / fingers together / finger to projects / tyres not glued properly.... yeah Rushing doesn't help I hated the think Instant glue, it always ran too well and this is where the problem occurred... setup 100% before going in for the glue....

wombat
Always use beadlocks on the crawlers, but on the sct and typhon just use normal gorilla super glue and never had a problem, but ungllueing them is a different story, lol ☹️
