Ziggy122
So not gonna lie, after been out the hobby and several things that will be affecting pricing (recession / lockdown / lack of them? etc) But is it me that models prices have gone up alot? And 2nd hand (FB stupidity) making them not worth getting.... Alot of Cheapo brands I've never heard off as well hitting around Some popular some not What's Hot to trot and what's NOT? Traxxas as still running hot! Hpi seem down in the dumps FtX seems to me like a good all rounder? Ziggy
Lone-wolf
FTX models are superb value for the most part and spares are cheap and easy to get for most of the models, but if you keep looking some good deals about on used models
Fred barlow
i don't know about ftx, honestly in the bashers they've only got 2 worthwhile cars thats the dr8 and tracer, the carnage based ones are hit and miss on the fragility scale, crawlers seem to be on par with the other budget ones and the on road stuff the mustang look alike goes well but i don't know about the drifter

SimplyChunk
If you're looking to get the FTX tracer, jump on Ali Express and grab a HBX (Haiboxing) 16889A-Pro. Same truck but comes with Oil Shocks, metal gears and a Brushless power plant as standard. I've got one, My Uncle used it once and then got himself one. Now my GF has one that I bought from a guy on here a little while ago as for HPI they seem to be piling all their resources in to their 'budget brand' Maverick at the moment. I've seen quite a few reviews on this brand and it seems like very good value. Edited September 21 by SimplyChunk

Ziggy Price of milk has gone up Price of bread has gone up Price of fuel has gone up Price of mortgages/rent has gone up Its not an RC thing, its a life thing. Everything has gone up! I actually think RC is as cheap as ever compared to inflation. Second hand prices are daft I agree. Its worth what it sold for on eBay. HPI went through horrendous financial issues, which has knocked confidence in them. Traxxas have gone from strength to strength (not always using the best morals). TommyC
I bought a maverick quantum XT flux earlier this year as my first car getting back into RC. Plenty of bang for your buck but not as robust as some I’ve bought since. Actually spent more in total repairing the maverick as I have spent on some of the more premium brand stuff. I really like the Arrma stuff I have but spares are hard to come by. The Hobao Hyper VSE I built has proven to be really robust too.

Like the Truggy more than the Monster truck setup I know it's just shocks/body mounts difference 14 hours ago, SimplyChunk said: If you're looking to get the FTX tracer, jump on Ali Express and grab a HBX (Haiboxing) 16889A-Pro. Yeah Traxxas is a Marmite thing... alot of people like the vehicles just not how much they are, and the traxxas upgrades are getting silly prices.... I like them, alot catch my eye but I dislike there cost... espically when there electronics are poor... wish my wages went up as quick as everything else did.... 41 minutes ago, TommyC said: I bought a maverick quantum XT flux earlier this year as my first car getting back into RC. I bought the typhon and mojave groms which in standard form aren’t too mad, but they can take brushless power pretty well. They just seem really well built but Arrma spares prices are ridiculous. Ive also won a 3s Senton and 4s outcast. I can’t see why you would need anything more powerful than the 4s. The thing does standing backflips. Again they just feel quality. I did put a max10 combo in the senton as I’d read bad things about the stock arrma blx esc. But I’m running stock electronics in the outcast as it’s full spektrum and everything else I have is Hobbywing. I have just had to buy some RPM arms for the outcast but that’s to be expected when trying to pull off quadruple backflips! The maverick on the other hand needed new parts every time I took it out! The only traxxas I have is the 2wd rustler and the crawlers, so can’t really comment on their big power stuff. The rustler isn’t built for bashing. Traxxas it seems have the biggest range of spares, both official and 3rd party, and readily available. I’ve got a 2nd hand losi 5T that seems built really well too. Got my eye on a mini T as I’m interested to see if the smaller stuff is as good.
