Country mike
Just wondering which would be the best but for a crawler that would driven in water a few times, my options so far are between the traxxas TRX-4 sport, ftx centaur and ftx tracker, i could push to a absima but thats getting to higher price. Partydaz
I think they should all be ok getting wet but best check see which one has water proof esc / servo most have I believe but always good double check. They all get water in them at some point if you like dunking them in the drink, I personally love taking my crawlers in every muddy puddle and creek I can find 😄. If you get some water resistant grease https://www.amazon.co.uk/Carlube-WPG500-Aquaslip-Marine-Waterproof/dp/B07XHN89WG and open up the gearbox and diff housings and apply a good slap of this stuff in and around the gears you'll be good to go 😁, just make sure you open it up from time to time see if needs cleaning up and reapplying. Cannot say anything about the ftx models you mentioned but I hear good things about them I know a few folks on here have some but I rock a beefy Traxxas trx 4 bronco and it's been bullet proof even when all water has gotten into the gears but that grease has help keep the water at bay. The trx 4 sport electronics are water proof I know that from first hand experience 😀. Edited September 19 by Partydaz
Lone-wolf
Best option for a crawler is a nice used truck and replace all the bearings with bronze bushes, add plenty of light grease and run it through as much wet stuff as you like and just not worry about it
Country mike
Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I can't afford anything over £400 so the trx 4 bronco is out of the question as much as it would be nice. I always thought the electrics on the crawlers hampered their water crossing abilities, because of my element senderos water resistant electrics (the element is still mostly stock, apart from the overdrive, wheels and bash plates but I want to keep it as an underdog). I have always thought about a traxxas but I think they're overpriced a bit, I will look at used as well.

Lone-wolf
This is sub 200 quid RTR, i have one and the plan was to run it till it was done for, 2 years on nothing and i honestly mean nothing has broke, i removed all the cage from the body to make it less top heavy and its been a great rig, esc is only a 1040 but its waterproof and gets the job done, RX is in a box so keeps the water out its in red or black https://www.timetunnelmodels.com/live/catalog/outback-fury-ready-trail-rock-crawler-black-ftx5578bk-p-70389.html

Not like crawlers are abused I would think so will be in good nick. Unless your my dad who drives his like he's escaping the police when it's not crawling 😃
Lone-wolf
More i think about it more i think the Fury 2.0 is ideal, the stock tyres are not bad and are glued to the rims so no water getting into foams to rot them, if i were getting one for water running i would measure up the bearings all round replace with bushings maybe put a 1060 ESC in, lose all the super structure of the top of the body, add a ton of lights and job done
