had some birthday funds and couldnt work out what to spend them on.

had a trip to the angling centre and got a few bits and bobs and a new rod 😄

https://www.fishingmegastore.com/spinning-rods/abu-garcia-beast-x-casting-rod~63808.html

i have been using a 15 - 40 gram spinner and a 40-80 one and now i have a 50-220 one lol

figured my little multipliers would be a bit weak for the job and my bigger ones maybe a bit big i also just bought a new reel to go with it and it is a multiplier rod.

the 5600 version of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EUWXFGK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

all that then i bet i catch the smallest perch on it lmao

we went to parkley the other day and dad caught one trout and i had 2 trout come right up to the pontoon after my wee wriggler lures 🙂

first succesful test on new rod and reel, i think im in love with them 🙂

used 60 gram wriggler lures and 85 gram ones and a big sinking 125 gram one and perfect casting every time, that reel is perfect size for that rod with 50 pound braid 🙂

i can really chuck that rod and reel and 0 zero chance of birds nests plus its a lot lighter than my beach casters that i find to be too heavy but can do casting weights getting up to them with my new spinning rod 220 grams 🙂

had some fishing earlier at the harbour and caught a small fish on each of my pike rods and dad caught a small one on his 14 foot beach caster, ironically i was down there for quite a bit waiting on them to finish a opticians appointment after going first and seen 3 fish jump what i beleive were sea trout at the side of the harbour where it is super rocky and weedy.

some pics of when i was waiting, wish i brought a rod and some spinners 😛

major bummer, my wee red abu reel has messed up, if dad cant work out whats wrong it it which he might, was having fun catching whiting on it earlier 🙂

my order history says it was sold by amazon so should be easy to get a replacement a 5600 size abu multi, i guess i can use my 6500 one if needed untill fixed or replaced, also caught the biggest whiting we have seen on it, their getting bigger now but wasnt quite big enough to keep 🙂

bad news on his wee abu reel

the owb housing is riveted into the side plate and has come adrift

it appears to be a chinese built abu reel and is almost all plastic inside :insane:

amazon refunded that reel even though i was about 6 days past the return window and i got a proper made in sweden abu the same size for about 70 quid more which was reduced, had a go of it earlier and christened it with a wee whiting 🙂

seems to be a really good reel woohoo 🙂

from what i hear abu got bought out years ago and the new owner has been putting the abu name on some cheap nonsense, Pure Fishing conglomerate of the United States now own abu garcia and are getting their cheaper lines like the sx i had made in china and clearly i got misled as did dad who also bought one, had no idea they had been bought out and to only buy the made in sweden ones for proper abu quality.

extremly happy with the new blue made in sweden one though 🙂

just came across this

S, SX, STX, and BCX are made in China. The 7000 is made in Taiwan. C3, C4, CS, and Morrum are made in Sweden.

now we know all the "abu" reels to avoid we both have 7000 ones and not had a problem, it seems to be the made in china models that are cheap and nasty (red one cost 98 quid and lasted a month) , hopefully some one reads this and doesnt get stung like we did 🙂

My Little foray into nostalgic fishing tackle ended up with me getting these reels which came out mid 80's to early 90's

gw4olSh.jpg

 PMF 57H and PMF 55H

9Fr3I35.jpg

y1P6wwi.jpg

Top left is the Daiwa Procaster Magforce PMF 57H and the other 3 are the smaller PMF 55H

i managed to track them down and buy them on Ebay

I amanaged to be able to buy a 57 when 1st came out but it was the 55's i really lusted after but by time i could afford em they had been discontinued

So 30-40 years later i finally have them and i really enjoy using them as well :good:
