Crawler ESC with drag brake?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a budget ESC to go into a crawler? Looking for something that has some form of drag braking to control descents.

Probably brushed. But would consider a sensored brushless is not.

Are any of the eBay/Aliexpress specials worth looking at?

I recently fitted a hobbywing quickun 1080 from aliexpress into mine, it is wonderful, you can even connect a signal wire from it to an axuillary channel on your reciever to have an adjustable drag brake rate on the fly (I have mine set up so one of the dials on my transmitter alters it) as well as the ability to apply drag brake whilst decending to maintain a set speed when going downhill (akin to bike brakes I suppose). I paid around £30 for mine + the program card. Obviously what counts as ‘budget’ is different for everyone, but the 1080 is considered the gold standard for brushed ESC’s and is a lot cheaper on aliexpress than through UK retailers. A cheaper option I suppose would be the 1060.

I’m sure others will have suggestions as well, this is just my two cents and I’m fairly new to all this so don’t have a lot of experince with different parts/brands/options. :good:

A good bit more expensive but a huge jump in performance, hobbywing fusion Pro.

I got my last one from aliexpress for about 85 quid.

That's motor / esc combined.
