ad456m Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 So when you have a winch controller, the esc, and a BEC to plug into the battery what is everyone’s preferred method for these kinds of shenanigans? Do I solder them all to the same battery connector? I’d probably use a wee bit of lead to solder to as packing 3+ wires on a dean plug is possibly getting sketchy depending on wire gauge. Or do I use stacked battery connector flyoffs for each of the esc, bec and winch? Or a bus bar setup? How does everyone deal with this? Quote
steephill Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 (edited) I'd solder the bec to the esc battery connector. I don't bother with deans connectors I much prefer the xt60 connectors. But that's just personal preference. As for the winch controller I don't know as I don't have one. Edited July 5, 2024 by steephill 1 Quote
Stormbringer Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 You could solder the winch controller to the esc battery lead at same time as you do the bec but i use XT90 connectors in mine 1 Quote
ad456m Posted July 5, 2024 Author Posted July 5, 2024 I like the idea of the XT family, especially with the antispark, but I’ve got the 90s on my USA-1 and they seem to end up with fine dust in the shroud and it makes them a total pain to separate and connect so I’ve just lazily stuck with Deans for the lower amperage cars. I really must swap to a more modern connector someday, but not today😂 I’ll fire it all together as suggested and see how I get on with it. Thanks for the sanity check👍 Quote
SBRDAZ Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 (edited) I just used one of these on my CR3.4. It has speed control with a VR knob. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0B9MGQD8G?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title Edited August 26, 2024 by SBRDAZ Quote
