A quick hello

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

just signed up to the forum new to this game but very enthusiastic,

bought my 1st RC Tuesday (mantaray)

and then went in for upgrades today and came out with my second RC (dark impact)

very keen to get involved with this community!

I’ve had a quick browse through a few forums and it seems people

are always looking for places to enjoy their RC’s, I’m very fortunate in the fact I have almost 200 acres of family land including a unused horse ménage and am

open to suggestions of building some sort of area people can use as it’s no fun playing alone!

cheers

Welcome to the forum, nice choice with the Tamiya’s, just enjoy them for what they are, and dont expect too much from them 🙂

Thanks bud, this is why I wanted to join a forum because as I said I have no idea what im doing and I know it will be a learning curve,

I would appreciate it if you could expand on what you said and educate me on where tamiya stand and what the benefits of other options are

cheers

Tamiya are fascinating and beautiful RCs. They are solely the reason a lot of us are into this hobby. Theyre a joy to build and have a lot of great characteristics that are missing in the hobby these days. HOWEVER. In todays world of almost bullet proof brushless RTRs, Tamiya’s have been left behind in the performance area. Tamiya also rely on their older models still to this day. For example your Manta Ray, although youve bought it in 2024, was actually released around 1990, so bare this in mind, as it also performs like a 34 year old RC (although battery/motor/ESC tech is better).

I love my Tamiya’s. I have had over 100 Tamiya’s and currently have 30 or so. But they’re mainly shelfers, some are still brand new in box despite being 30 years old. For “use” I use my Traxxas models as theyre much faster and stronger.

That doesnt necessarily mean Tamiya’s arent fun, its just a much slower pace

Thankyou for that, that’s good to know, once my skill set develops I will likely look to branch out to something else then as you say yea as are good, are there any other competitive manufacturers??

cheers
