Lcg crawlers

Recommended Posts

@steephill I’ve seen a few of his vids and yes, it’s a chopped Capra chassis. There’s quite a few like that on the Poiz’d FB group page, but I’m going to use a lexan shell on mine. Heavily chopped of course 😂

My one is in the U.K. now, just waiting for it to make its way to my door so the fun can begin 😎

@Andy-Roo Do you know if the chassis in the link below is a copy of a particular chassis?

I've had a search but can't seem to find anything.

I don’t recognise it mate, but there’s so many LCG chassis’ available it’s hard to keep up them all.
The Caiman LCG from GCRC looks good but it’s £83 just for the rails 😂

I've seen the prices, good to have lcg crawler parts available in the UK, but...

Exactly. I’d rather get parts here…and I do when I can; tyres, wheels, bodies and now Holmes, Reefs, Treal etc but the reality is our crawler market is tiny here in the UK so some specialist parts just aren’t available here. And the trouble with me is that nearly everything else I want for my builds is in the US of A 😆

Having said that, I’ve not been getting hit with import duties lately…for some reason 🤷‍♂️

I’ll get a massive belated invoice now I’ve said that! 😂

Very interesting. Could be my first foray into aliexpress! Will see how well I get on crawling next week!

Very delayed update on this!

Had a blast crawling, but had a fair amount of wanting to hit harder lines but having no chance with the stock R1. Love the look of it, but just doesn't seem capable enough with what I want it to do.

Any recommendations for a chassis kit with overdrive gearbox that I could build up with the R1 axles? Assume this'll immediately be a better set up?

Alternatively, I do have a set of Losi Comp Crawler axles I could use, but the gearbox is toast and I think they need a quicker gearbox ratio due to the worm gears so that might be a no go!

@ReggieC

I don't know the length of links or size of skid on the r1.

Generally the lcg gearboxes use a narrower skid so the links will need to be longer. You can usually sort this with longer rod ends. You can get links at various lengths from injora. Or look on aliexpress / ebay / amazon at stainless crawler links. You can pick sets up from a tenner, all the lengths will be shown.

I'd say a well setup lcg chassis would work way better than a r1 chassis.

I'm well impressed with how capable some of my rigs are.

@ReggieC that last few chassis kits I've bought from aliexpress have been very good with loads of options for gearbox, ams or cms.

I can share a few links if you want?

I'd get a chassis kit with a lcg gearbox with overdrive.

Yeah a few links would be great if you could buddy! Do the lcg gearboxes usually limit you to running outrunners or can you still fit brushed motors in there?

Yeah I was expecting to need longer links and longer driveshafts too. I can probably wait and measure all them up though

This is a good chassis kit about 55 quid...

This is one is also good and about 30 quid...

This is the I bought recently, comes in red, blue or black carbon. A bit more expensive than the others but a really nice looking complete chassis kit (excluding gearbox & links)...

The 2low copy gearbox doesn't leave much room for a brushed motor on most lcg chassis kit I have got from aliexpress. The od3 copies allow more room for a brushed motor. You could get the delrin skid and run an axial style three gear transmission.

I would highly recommend a brushless outrunner.

Is there a best way to get good prices? I made a basket of bits and the prices all magically went up ☹️

Do I need to set up an account, or buy each bit separately or something? I'm new to AliExpress, can you tell? 😆

When you went to pay for them?

Some state including tax, some add it on when you pay for it.

Oh hang on, the headline prices are the "welcome deal", everything else reverts to a higher price when the first thing has been added to the basket at the welcome deal price.

Anyone know if the welcome deal prices are a once only, once per transaction or something else?

It’s been a while so I’ve forgotten about intro deal stuff so found this on Reddit

“The welcome deal is only on one item, and only on your first order. You can't use other discounts or promos or codes with it. Also note that if you try to buy multiple items, it will pick one item random and charge the others at regular price. So it is best to buy only one thing for your first order.”

I have been on AE for about a year, it was a bit of a mind melt to start with and I’ve got the hang of it now. I log in every day and get the free coins to give me a few pennies discount on things. I always shop on the app as it seems less head-melting than the site.
They do events every 3 months or thereabouts and at any time there is something like the World Cup, Olympics, Chinese new year is one too I think. Big sales on some things. The Choice stuff is a bit like Prime on Amazon. Quicker and free postage with 3 “Choice Items”

I stick mainly to sellers that are over a year old, are 90+% feedback and have a decent amount of sales and it’s been a pretty safe bet.

I found it’s best to buy small orders until you get the hang of things and then branch out. I’ve had to deal with a couple of bad orders and the system has been 100% fair, I got an order missing a shock so we agreed on an appropriate discount.

That’s about all I can think of just now to help ya with traversing the site.
