steephill
The body fits really well to the chassis, all mounts for this particular shell included in the kit. It's just sat on top to see how much to remove. Needs a load more chopping off. I need to sort a battery tray towards the front. I'm fairly happy with this one so far. Front upper links need flipping around because of the big bend on the lowers and a longer front prop. And obviously some wheels and tyres.
Andy-Roo
@steephill You can get cheap ones ones on eBay for about £20 a pair (most likely cheaper on Aliexpress) or both Delux and EXO RC make their own which are, of course, reassuringly expensive at around £30ea. eBay ones https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/405049306926?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=rtv-i0gnrqe&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=-6Iol3f7T9u&var=675118761131&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
steephill
@Andy-Roo nice one 👍 Haven't seen them before.
steephill
Chopped a good bit off the body. Might have to take a bit more off. Didn't feel quite as bad with this one it was 13 quid from aliexpress. The Rhino motor is super smooth, more than happy with the s20 motor. Gave it a quick run round the crawler course. It did pretty good for it's test run. Need to sort a battery tray and some tweaking of the shocks and front links. Not sure what to do with the body, one or two colours, weathering or a beat up rusty wrecker. Or I could do a KTM colour scheme, it's got the orange shocks and wheels.
Andy-Roo
That’s looking a lot like a G Shot FS mate. KTM colours FTW 👍
steephill
@Andy-RooThanks mate 👍. I'll have to have a look at a gspeed G shot FS, might get some ideas for the battery tray KTM paint scheme it is then 👍 I'm thinking black, metallic grey and a bit of orange.
Andy-Roo
I think most G Shot owners Velcro the battery to a slider, like this one.. 1

steephill
@Andy-Roo What the difference between the RP kraken and interceptor chassis? I do like the look of the Rock Pirates products. I see they're popular in the States.

I see they're popular in the States. Sorry for the late reply mate, been a busy day sorting out bits for our hols. The Interceptor doesn’t have an angled skid and was designed to use with 10.2/Element parts but I’ve seen them with every kind of axle, transmission, 3 link, 4 link and anything else you can think of. Oh, and I’ve just seen it’ll even fit the Capra. The Kraken has an angled skid and can run either the VRD or Pro trans. But again, I’ve seen them built with every trans, axle combo imaginable. The parts are really well made and there’s a bunch of YouTube build vids and a Facebook page, which really helps with inspiration or problems. I’ve seen another chassis that’s custom build only and the ‘want’ for it is very strong! If get one it’ll be a long and expensive build and would mean I’d probably have to forget about my Kraken plan. The Poizd T3V2 ‘Killmode’ 😍
steephill
Brilliant, thanks for that mate 👍. I thought you'd know. Wow! Those pictures! I'm gonna have to look at the Poizd T3V2, that looks a serious piece of kit. I notice the huge rear cut down prop. The only thing I've seen that's similar that is one of the negative g rigs. I'm impressed with the latest Aliexpress lcg chassis. I'm glad you pointed out it's a gshot fs copy. The body mounts are good, one nut to attach (like on the RP stuff). I've ordered a set of links for that chassis, I notice on the gspeed there's a load more clearance on the rear links,so worth ordering. Had to chop more off the body, it now sits nicely on the mounts and sliders.
Andy-Roo
If I could only have one RP it would be the Kraken-it’s a proper LCG and is really flexible when it comes to which parts can be used with it. The Poizd is just cool AF to me, a proper cheater rig but is meant to be quite challenging to build and set up due to tight clearances at the front with links and motor, which has to be a outrunner type. There’s a Poizd FB group that I joined and they seem a friendly bunch and are happy to help. A guy on there has, or is still building a budget T3V2 using Aliexpress parts, so they don’t have to be a mega money build. I don’t see why your G Shot copy couldn’t be just as capable as the real deal, unless the geometry is different in some way, of course. It would be interesting to see both chassis next to each other to compare. The T3V2 is available from HCRC along with a link kit for it. I’ve had the parts in my basket a few times now with my finger on the trigger 😂
steephill
@Andy-Roo Thanks again mate 👍. The kraken sounds like it's going to be the chassis for me. I really do fancy building one of their chassis. I'm going to do a comparison test when I get chance. I can wait to give the a go.

Andy-Roo
Some epic rigs there hitting some tough lines! That green chopped pick-up was a Poizd I think, and maybe the black bug too. Both looked absolutely killa. I've got the chassis kit and link set in the basket and I’ve got an itchy trigga finga 😂
steephill
@Andy-Roo😂 no bloody wonder! I've just been looking at the t3v2 kilmode chassis. Right up my street, they look brilliant and I've seen how capable they are. Probably one of the best cheater rigs I've seen.

But it was no use, I succumbed to the temptation 😜 It’ll take about two weeks for Lance to make the links, so it’ll be 3 or 4 weeks before it lands on my mat. It won’t be quick build though, probably take me a good few months to get all the parts together, but I’m really looking forward to seeing take shape…….by 2027 😂
