steephill
Done a few bits to the Utah. Fitted a cheapo aliexpress front axle, brass portal covers and overdrive portal gears. Gave it a quick test, but because it's lagging it down again it's hard to say. I don't think the ridiculously wide hex's are the best choice, I'm going to see if the Trx4m hex's fit to narrow the track slightly. The Utah seems to be worse on the side hill sections. It wider than my kangaroo with the wide diamond axles and wide hex's.

Grimtech
Hey All! New Utah Brushless owner here. Enjoying this new truck, I have SCX24 through to a Summit so have experience with all sorts. It definitely feels it needs more weigh in the 4 corners, so which wheels are you guys trying? I have read the names you have used, but cant pin down the exact ones, sorry. I find it sort of handles like it has too much tyre pressure sometimes (too rigid a foam in there?). Few more questions if I may!? What shock oil are you running/topping up the low filled shocks on the Utah? Which size tyres have you been playing with (foam or no foam)? Does any one know what the Dip Switch on the Tx do? I am hoping there's a switch combo to reduce the anchor-like brake effect when you come off the throttle! I found mention online on the CR18P that they are: 1. F&R or F/B/R 2. lipo cutt off 3. drag brake 4 drag brake But they don't seem to have the same effect on the Utah. Thanks, and sorry for my first post being questions! (there may be more!) cheers

steephill
@Grimtech The settings you mentioned above are for the brushed models. You can change the settings on your esc by using the Furitek app. The furitek brushless system is very good. It's nice and easy to use. I think I used 30 weight shock oil as a starting point, you could go thicker. I found brass wheels helped. I'm using 64mm tyres at the moment. If you are still using stock wheels and tyres you can try the brass rings or tape a strip of lead flashing to the plastic ring.

Grimtech
@Lone-wolf and @steephill Thanks for the wheel and tyre info. Yes, I connected via BT and got the firmware updated and fiddled with settings. The small amount amount of shock oil in each shock I compared to what I had, and found it matched the 35wt I had, so used that to refill all 4 shocks. I think some brass wheels may be in order then, thanks!
Lone-wolf
Prepped up yet another body for the Utah, did it in this colour as i think my wife will be having this car as im not fussed about it, i prefer the unitrak, just waiting for magnets from ebay to fit it
Grimtech
Came home from a weekend away, and found my rear left shock fluid sitting on the shelf below the truck - which was nice. The shock cap that retains the sealing o-ring had blown itself off - not been used in 3 days though. All shocks were topped up after finding they only contained about 25% fill of oil. Looking at various alloy shock options, but none have the removable spring seat on the lower shock eye - plus they all use a brass ball end, and the shocks on there run a plastic eye so it can "click" onto the ball on the lower mounting bolt. On 1:10 shocks I have secured the same cap using heatshrink over it, but on this truck it would jam on the I.D. of the spring. I may just thoroughly de-grease the shock and super glue the cap back on - only needs to come off to replace the o-rings, or if the shock shaft bends. Thoughts and opinions most welcome! 😁 cheers
Lone-wolf
I would clean and reassemble then fill with 100cst oil but dont fill to the top, do all 4 shocks and hopefully all good
Grimtech
Thank you! There's just no "click" left when pushing the cap back on, it doesn't "snick" into place - more like it just squash there and sits there, than actually engaging solidly. Will clean it all and de-grease it his evening and see how it looks. Cheers

Gaz!
Wow, there’s not a lot of articulation on the twin axles, maybe some tweaking and weight could cure that. and again, the cab is tiny compared to the bed, and that goes for many of the smaller crawlers and the bigger 1/10th stuff. If your going for the “scale” look then the proportions need to be “scale” too. now the 6x6 has been done, lets hope we get a 8x8 soon ppllleeeeaaaaseee!!!! 1

Lone-wolf
Well now, the CR-18p 6x6 has been released is now called the Arktos, lots of youtubers have been given them and all have released there review video`s, it has a lot going for it like new 6 channel flysky radio, lots of lights and yes working winch with slide out loading ramps, big bore oil shocks and 270 brushed motor pricing is $199.00. All the waiting and thinking yes, gonna have one of these and now i am not so sure i want it.......i would never use it as a recovery truck maybe it would be a nice trail truck
Davy Crockett
Had a bit of free time and had a bit of a play with the Unitrak this weekend. Completely stock and really enjoyed how it performed on the indoor course. Going to have a read up and maybe have a few upgrades going forward... Printed a few bits and made some minor mods, how it looks as you read this.....

Just wondering whats out there and any recommendations welcomed the stock cr-18p shocks are pretty useless so i have ordered a couple of sets of ftx Aluminium shocks but not 100% sure they will take oil, if they dont will return them, also got some injora double barrel shocks to try heard good about these but again not oil filled, but upgrading is worth doing
Gaz!
I know its not this model but ive recently got some T-real shocks and have to say, for the extra £3-4 more than the Injora offerings but are so much smoother. wouldn't the scx24 shocks fit?? If so there is, more choice will be available
