The sound was horrible on braking but going forward was nice, only checked it when I got home and I could see the diff through the gap 😅. Bolted it all back up again and been fine. inspected front and back diffs - i see no probs there =/

When i brake egressivelly i can hear "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" sound of gears skipping. I took apart the car - checked all diffs, all gears - found nothing. No damaged or missing teeth. Car runs normally, only get that sound when braking. What can it be? Even tried killing it with nonstop gas/brake to eventually kill some part and see the damage, but no luck - nothing broke... Worn bearings or cracked plastics?

wolfie1
Since destroying my supposed waterproof hobbywing esc playing in the snow, before i install the new kit i thought i would do a bit of a refresh and some maintenance, i have gotten some done, the rear assembly has had pretty much every bearing replaced, the ones that havent the bearings have been opened up cleaned up and regreased, so,e were really destroyed! fitted some new proline rear hubs as the oem ones had a lot of wear around the bearings and they slopped about i did get a motor gear cover 3d printed but who knows what it was actually for as its way too big, so i modified the original, i would have preferred the gears to have been completely covered but its best i could do with what i had, if someone knows of something better it would be really appreciated So this is where i have gotten too tonight, the rear is all back together again
wolfie1
Forgot to take pics but got the front all stripped down and rebuilt again and the rest of it back together, since the motor is bigger i got a bigger heatsink and fans but it wouldnt fit past the chassis bracing so had to mill some off, also had to get creative with the temp sensor to put it back on, just need to try it now once i get the chance

The little thumbnut thing on the top is basically a handle, there is a spring internally below it which holds it down into a hole in the latch body, so you lift that up and then turn the whole thing like you would with the oem latch
Tadas
I know you have mini MAX - is it me or its rc has rather short range? Like 50-70m? How could i increase it?
wolfie1
I have a maxx and an xmaxx, i did have poor range with the xmaxx and to fix it i rebound the tx and rx and made sure the cable was further out of the receiver box
Partydaz
I had the same problem on my maxx and found the traxxas receiver antenna wire had got caught on the receiver box when I tighten it up. So look for any splits on the wire and cut it back, I think it only needs 31.2mm of wire showing to function. If it is you find that it's broken have a read of this it'll explain it better https://oscarliang.com/repair-2-4ghz-antenna-rx/ Saved me from buying a few new receivers this has 😃 and I tuck the wire in the receiver box because one is that short it won't fit in the tube anymore and still works fine.

I am going to be honest, i havent had it out since i fitted it, i have had other cars out but with the mix of not so great weather and being busy at home at the weekends since the new boundry fence has gone up at home making our garden bigger i just havent had time. 1 thing is for sure it doesnt flex like the plastic and it is held on more securely, maybe this weekend if the weathers ok and the digger driver doesnt appear
