A few years ago I had several "race" buggys from different brands so I was looking forward to seeing what LC racing have done with this. From a first glance they seem to have massively up their game over their 4wd models. Fortunately DMS racing is the UK distributor for LC Racing and I was able to collect one when they first arrived, massive shout-out for them meeting me half way at a Waitroses so I could have it for Christmas. 10/10 customer service. Set up isn't anything fancy... ESC - hobbywing 16BL30 Motor - Surpass 2845 motor from AliExpress Servo - stock Lipos - 1800mah 2s from Amazon On with the build Bag A (Diff) The diff went together very well, they included a fibre seal, something that the older models didn't come with. Bag B (Shocks) Standard LC racing shocks, the springs are slightly different to the 4wd however I think I'll be ordering slightly harder springs for the front. Quality of anodising seems to have improved as there was no imperfections. No oil was included with the kit. Bag C+D (front end + steering) Pretty standard 2wd front end, very similar to an X-ray or Team associated buggy. Bag E (rear end + gear box) Nice three gear mid motor gear box, all went together very well. Some nice adjustment in the rear end, I think with the carbon fibre rear towers you'll be able to mount the shocks on the back of the wish bone as well as the front. Bag F (body and battery mounts) The battery mounts allow you to move the battery back and forward, in the forward position you'll struggle to fit your ESC and RX in. The body and wing came precut. Conclusion - for £120 your not going to find any better and for less than half the price of a 1/10 buggy with 90% of the same features it's very attractive, sadly micro racing hasn't been a great success over here. For under £200 you'll have everything you need to get either racing or bashing. The build quality has increased and the amount of wobble is minimal across the whole car and everything went together well, no trimming or filing was needed. I'm hoping to get it out on an astro track in the new year so in terms of handling it's hard to say. Things to be aware of... You'll need a motor with a 15mm shaft, my temporary one was only 10mm and I was unable to mount the pinion. No oil comes with the kit, not a biggy however something to be aware of. No where in the manual tell you how to set the slipper up, for some this won't be an issue but could easily be for others. Spares and upgrades should be on the DMS website before the end of the year (already in the UK). I hope that LC continues to support this little buggy for the next few years as I think it will be a good seller for them. This will do for now as with it being pre cut they'd already made the holes for the body mounts. I've since added velcro as it's easier to get on and off so when the uncut ones become available I'll order one. Each pack that I've found is around £10-13 which is pretty cheap IMO. I originally fitted all the packs with XT60 connectors however I'm struggling to keep everything looking clean so I'm going down to xt30s. First version of the new battery mount fits well, the mini b uses a o ring and I think it looks much better than the over sized velcro strap. Wiring is a bit messy however everything fits and I'll tidy that up when the new RX arrives. Everything is stock other than the battery bracket system. DMS are showing the spares now as well as some of the upgrades, hopefully the upgrades arrive in the 2nd batch that's due early January. I've found anything under 1/10 isn't great off road and the tires are just too small. I think if you added 1/10 buggy tires with a truggy shell it could be fun however you might as well get the 4wd version. Not had time to build mine yet, but was working on the assumption that the supplied kit pinion would be Mod 0.5, like the EMB series. The losi mini 8 spurs are a direct swap, I'm not 100% sure about the slipper pads if you'll need losi ones or if the LC ones will fit. With losi mini8 stock drying up I'd be sceptical about making the change however if you already have a lot of 48dp pinions then I guess it's worth it. I know you can buy metal spur gears however as long as your mesh the stock one correctly I can't see why you'd need one.
