Print software I use, I can scale print files up or down to suit scale required, few taps on the calculator normally sorts it

I've given the Injora brushless system a test. 

I ended up building another crawler to test it with. 

I didn’t want to pull the kangaroo to bits, it's probably the most capable out of all the mini crawlers I have. 

I picked up a carbon chassis from aliexpress for 10 quid all in,an absolute bargain. Pretty sure it's a furitek copy. 

I ended up using the gearbox with underdrive gears and stainless links from my k10. 

Lots more shock mounting options than the Injora kangaroo, a few grams lighter and a bit smaller in height. 

I've used the Injora +4mm axles with lay down servo mount. 

53mm shocks. 

Does come with a aluminium roof panel. I'll fit that when the wiring is tidy. 

The Injora brushless system is brilliant, the low speed control is better than the furitek system. 

Injora say it better to run it on 3s. I initially tried it on 3s with the 32% underdrive gears and it's got loads of wheel speed. It's very good on 2s, still has a good amount of wheel speed and lots of torque. 

You only really notice and bit of a decrease on 2s. I would be more than happy to run it on 2s most of the time. 

I would definitely recommend this system, 46 quid direct from Injora is cheap. The furitek equivalent is £125. 

The wiring is a little long for my liking. It does come with plenty of adapters, traxxas trx4m plug, xt30, ph2.0 3 pin and a few others. 

The esc looks good and is quite compact. 

You can set the receiver power from 6 to 7.4,bonus for hv servos. 

You need a pc to change the esc settings, so if you like apple your 💩 out of luck. 

So far I love the Injora brushless system, hopefully it's reliable. 

I've run the most of a 2 and 3s pack with no issues and hardly any heat in the motor or esc.

My system is still on back order (2 weeks, yesterday).

 

does the esc change the servo voltage??

also noticed about it recommending 3s power, i only have 2s packs but if its a minimal difference, shouldn’t matter.

 

in other news, the Injora servo arrived, now fitted to the Ir40 and awaiting another run today or possibly tomorrow (once the toothache has subsided).

 

had a little look inside the dodgy tr4 servo, couldn’t see anything obvious so put it back together, fitted a horn and see if i could replicate the issue, its not one of the opposite gear pins but the servo horn out put, move it side to side and it does lock up, maybe the top bearing has let go?? Ill have a nosey when i can to look for damage elsewhere.

 

this is now the 2nd Powerhd Tr4 servo that has failed, think the Injora ones might work better and cheaper to boot.

 

few pics of the modified Land Rover front bumper, need to try it out but no where as clumsy looking now…. Also removed the “squareness” from the bottom of the roll bar hoop.

It's really good on 2s with the 32% underdrive gears. Better than the furitek on 2s and that's 2s only. 

I thought it would be a bit underwhelming on 2s with what Injora stated, but it's not,it's very good.

Mine still not arrived as yet sadly…..

 

Servo has been tested, all is well now. Swapped out the stock shaped brass hexes to some that look like a brake disc but has a hex on the front, they fit well and after all that, it now runs, articulates and steers much better.

Built the later version of the tarantula chassis with portals. 

The battery tray is different and it's for lay down servo mount only. 

A bit tight fitting the electronics in. I had to tuck the receiver behind one of the side panels. 

Lego figures will be a perfect size for the interior. 

I've got the crawler gears with the injora brushless motor, I way prefer the 32% underdrive. It may be better on 3s but my 500 mah 3s won't fit in. 

I'm waiting on overdrive gears so I'll give it a fair test when fitted. 

I did try and upload more pictures but my Flickr has gone a bit nuts.

i like the details added to the mk.2 Tarantula, interior looks the part too.

im thinking about the Mrs. Buying me a set of axles for Christmas, its either those portals with diamond axle or the others without portals. Should work nicely with the below.

 

have you seen the other new Injora shell for the Trx4m??? All im saying is, silver for me please 

 

another couple of runs now under the Ir40’s belt with no issues. Only bit i need to look into is the transmission slop, if i can get rid of this and stick in the brushless system in, its done (for now)……

If I had to choose between the straight or diamond portals I'd go with the straight diamond axles. There's a good few brass options and I prefer the look of straight axles. 

I took it round the course, it did pretty good. The lack of overdrive and low down weight hinders it. 

And yeah I have seen the new Injora body, probably no surprise, I ordered one a few days ago 😂 in grey😂

Well i can now say “me too” in grey also, lmao….. 

 

i took my Mum & Dad to the railway station this morning and my dear old Mum stuck me £25 in my pocket for taking them, so its cost me £2.76.

 

dont think this will be built in a hurry, id like to stick on those diamond axles and one of the brushless set ups for it, luckily were in the time of year where my birthday is coming and then Christmas. Although i have all the stuff from me dismantling the Tarantula sat doing nothing too….

 

i feel proper addicted to these little rc’s, i have a X-maxx sat on its shelf and sadly ive no urge to run it, id much rather use the little crawlers. I know, proper weird….

I've ordered a set of straight diamond axles for my build. 

I don't know how much the wheels will stick out. My plan is straight diamond axles, brass hubs with the counter weights so I can run steelies (that will bring the track in a bit) with 64mm hyrax copies (it states on the Injora site 64mm tyres work with the IR60) and get rid of the rotating mass of the brass wheels. 

And the Injora carbon universal chassis to suit the lay down servo. 

And definitely 53mm shocks, articulation is overrated. 

I've got one of the bigger Injora outrunners to try. Injora have them in stock again with esc's.

Looking forward to that build mate, sounds about perfect (as ever) i was going to ask about chassis, im guessing the diamond axles don't work with Traxxas chassis rails with the lay down servo?? And would the carbon chassis i bought off your good self (with a double decker battery tray)work or would you recommend the newer version chassis??

 

sorry about all the questions mate, all this knowledge makes for a great thread and will be cheaper to build a ultimate truck from the ground up than buying a rtr and upgrading….

 

im not a particular fan of the longer shocks, i have all 53mm shocks on mine whereas my lad has gone for 59mm. The Ir40 has 51mm shocks, it limits articulation but my goodness, with all the necessary weight its like a barnacle now 

 

4 weeks tomorrow and still no sign of my brushless set-up, even sold out on Injora site too.

 

Are the Furitek combos worth it?? Also found a combo from rcecho on eBay, never heard of those before though. I would like both my Defender and Ir40 to be brushless and was thinking about 2 different systems or should i stick with another Injora combo??

@Gaz! It states on the Injora website that only the universal carbon chassis fits the lay down servo axles (annoyingly). 

I bought another to do my IR60 build. 

I do have one of the carbon chassis I sold you spare. 

Before I built up the tarantula 2 I put the diamond portals on a injora defender carbon chassis. 

I had chassis, skid, shocks, upper and lower arms, so no prop fitted. 

The servo only just touched when fully compressing one shock and I mean barely. 

I then tried some chassis spacers that come with the Injora universal chassis to space the rails out at the front. I think they are about 3-4mm wide. That gives more than enough clearance. So you could put small spacers between the bumper /mount to bring the chassis rails out. A piece of 2mm aluminium cut to size and drilled would work. 

I should of taken pictures with it mocked up. 

The furitek systems are very good, bluetooth connection to a mobile app for the settings, once set up I rarely touch them to be honest. 

The only esc I have used is the lizard pro, very good and the tiny outrunner, think it's called stinger or venom in the ftx Utah. 

They aren't waterproof if that's an issue, mine is circuit board with clear heat shrink on it. 

If I'm honest I'm struggling with the brushed setups in my mini crawlers after using the Furitek and Injora stuff. For crawling they're just on another level. 

I still need to test the Injora fat viper motor. It's twice the size of the Furitek. Supposed to have a huge amount of torque. 

So far I'd say the Injora brushless setup is smoother than the furitek, not much in it, but it's noticeable when driven back to back.

Oh yeah, the other thing that will help fitting lay down servo mount axles to the carbon lcg chassis is bolt the two front rails the other way around to give servo clearance.

@Gaz! I feel exactly the same, of all the builds I've done and there's some I'd do again, for the money these little rigs are more 'fun'. 

I haven't been out with the 1/10 scale for over a year but tinkered and had quick play with the mini rigs almost weekly. Got a little indoor course i can use and put away with ease if I fancy some off-road fun. However, I do foresee me purchasing some upgrades

Im in same situation love my Hi trail F-150, it really does drive and look great, cant remember last time i ran a 1/10th crawler

Once again, thank you for that mate, very much appreciated. For me, I'm finding the limited motor choice to be the let down, i have tried to vary all of them in my trucks and all have their downsides. Whereas the brushless route gets around most of the issues associated. 

 

I will have to see the birthday/Christmas budget will be, if i can squeeze a new chassis in, if not i will modify as you say the standard carbon chassis.

Yeah mate, the upgrades are the therapy lmao, there’s a ton of choice to go your own way, ive built 2 from parts and bought 2 as rtr trucks (all Trx4m) and the only real cost was the Ford F150 body set. The Injora bodies are starting to give yet more choice, which can only be a good thing.

brutally honest though mate, it was the little FTX outback mini 2.0/covid that started the mini crawling for me, i could go outside, pull up a chair to the “pallet course”, drink tea, smoke and play with rc with the family,  life really couldn’t be any better….

 

and look where we are now….

My big Trx4 wont have been powered up in 2 years this October, like most of them, it always seems to be the same two Trx4m rigs over and over lol.

@Gaz! Yep I really do like the hi trail Ford in fack it drives a bit nicer, a bit more scale than the FCX 24 K5 but I also really like my Cr18 Unitrak as that drives really nice

Just wow, ordered the little Ir60 shell direct from Injora, delivery was a week exactly and it was free shipping!! 

 

 

Postimage is having a crisis but i will get a couple more pics up later.

 

i have given it a once over and found 2 small gripes, the stripes on the sides are in the paint and not removable stickers and they supply you with 2 different front ends, first is a very detailed Hi-lux exactly like the Rc4wd Tf2, that comes with 3mm led headlamp holes, the other front end is a much more generic affair, looks nice but its not as nice as the more “scale” front end, this one comes with 5mm holes in the front for headlamps. Also included is a basic 2 front, 2 rear light kit and guess what??? Yep thats right, the supplied light kit has 5mm led’s for the headlamps……

 

yeah i know, nothing major in the whole grand scheme of things but i will “custom” make a light set myself, just need the pre wired jobs off eBay.

 

also, my lad’s F150 shell arrived and doesnt fit onto the chassis, at first he thought it was the chrome Chevy bumpers holding it off, removed them and still the front doesnt want to “click” into place, had a nosey on Modelsport but its got both F150/Chevy bumper mounts the same part no. So comes another wait for the Trx4m t bumpers to come back in stock lol.

he also had one of the new carbon chassis kit arrive too so once he has built it, i want to have a nosey with it fitted to the Ir60 shell.

 

im gonna have to have a look round for some more stuff to try and sell again….
