@Gaz!Yeah I'm trying out high trail links.

I prefer them for crawling, I just hope it looks right with the IR60 body, hopefully.

I'll have a look to see if there's any difference between the body / bumper mounts I have.

seems this IR60 body will also fit the hobby plus evo pro (ftx utah)

It's a really good looking body for a reasonable price. I really wouldn't mind clear windows without the tint.

Had to change plans for the IR60 build.

I tried the larger outrunner with the double deck battery tray.

When using the fat viper motor with the taller gearbox the upper tray for mounting the esc / receiver needs to be mounted with the higher posts. This hits the body and won't work.

If using the standard size gearbox you can sit the tray lower and everything fits nicely.

You could mount the esc / receiver to the rear but I much prefer the electronics hidden away in the body if possible.

Do you think that set-up would work on the Ir40?? Looks to have a bit more cab space, my lad has the taller posts in his Ir40, mine uses the lower posts.

im 100% with you on the electrics though mate, i like mine to be as neat as possible and out of the way, hidden.  maybe why I didn’t get on with the v1 Tarantula???

i was thinking the tinted glass was a good idea, with the limited space i have all you would see is a esc and receiver however if you had smaller electrics then i guess a interior would look very cool!

its gonna be a busy couple of weeks for me now, got numerous appointments etc. from hospital to college and even a tattoo ive been designated chauffeur lol.

guessing most of you got the 8% voucher from Injora?? Need to work out how much i will save on my wish list to see if its worthwhile trying to buy now???

Yeah it should work with the IR40. I don't know for sure but I can do some measuring on my IR40 or test fit later.

I had to pull my kangaroo to bits for the gearbox, motor and esc.

Now the tray for electronics doesn't fit because of the fat viper motor / taller gearbox.

I've made a temporary electronics tray from a scrap piece of lexan. But the battery is a bit pain to get to.

So I might put the larger outrunner in my IR40. I should of done that in the first place.

The fat viper motors have a load of torque. I've just given it a quick test.

The viper motors are more than enough though.

That's with high trail length links. Looks good. I didn't want it to look stretched out.

And the ride height is getting lowered.

Other than the wheels and tyres, thats exactly how i want my effort to look like!!

do you have a proper side on view pic by any chance mate?? Looking at the pics, the links make it look like the tyres fit the arches perfectly.

also mate, let me know if you are gathering up bits again, id be extremely interested. :good:

I don't know if I'm keeping those wheels or tyres.

64mm is the largest tyre Injora said will fit without rubbing.

It's as low as possible on the rear, could lower it a little on the front.

So if you want it any lower it's smaller tyres.

I've seen the IR60 body on standard width axles and the wheels fair stick out. Most of the wheels I have have more offset so the wheels will stick out even more.

It doesn't look half bad with the high trail links, thanks for the pics too mate, appreciate it :good:

not got too far into which wheels as of yet nor have i tyres, i think it can be very subjective, going to try something not black this time for the wheels though, got more than enough of those, i do like the Injora Turbine wheels, they would i think look very cool on the Ir60….

had a little time this morning so decided to “try” and paint up the front grill to give a little more scale appearance, gazed at my Ir40 for far too long…. and charged up the lipos, next 3 days are supposed to be ok weather wise. Oh and put up a wanted thread for a watch lol. Also forgot to mention the windows are again fitted to the cab, i wish it came separate, makes any painting difficult!!

Built another IR40.

A bit different, on stock width axles and defender / Bronco length links.

It's got the Injora 2400kv fat viper motor. The only issue I came across was the stock battery tray doesn't fit perfectly against the taller gearbox.

It still works, the battery tray bends in a little.

I had a carbon battery tray from injora that worked fine.

I'm waiting on a double deck battery tray to get the electronics in the cab.

Tried the motor on 2s, it's brilliant, loads, and I mean loads of torque, super smooth.

59mm shocks, only because I'm waiting on the 53mm to arrive.

I've used springs under the piston to shorten the travel and make it sit low. Works really good.

@Gaz! I agree, wheels and tyres are definitely a personal preference.

I've ordered some injora 63mm swamp stompers for my IR60 build.

A little smaller than the hyrax copies so I can lower it a bit. And they look a lot more scale, which I think that particular rig needs.

I regards to the rc staring thing, I'm guilty of that 😂

Bugger me @steephill, you do know how to get my envy stirred mate……

im thinking those wheels on the silver Ir40, they suit it really well, so should be ok for the Ir60 Yota. :good:

@Gaz! 😂🤣

You might get crawler course envy when you see what I've been doing 😂

I might have to swap those wheels about 👍.

The biggest you. An get on the IR60 is 64mm. I don't think you can get tyres that size on the 1.3's

im thinking something like 58mm tyres on 1” rims and have it low slung.

could you elaborate on your shock mod to get it sitting like that please?? No rush though mate, whenevers fine.

@Gaz! I've tried various scx24 springs from injora scx24 shocks with the internal springs.

On the 53mm shocks I've cut the springs down to about half and put them under the piston.

On the 59mm shocks I recently did, I used a full spring under the piston. It reduces travel by about 4mm and the shocks sits about 2/3 compressed.

Ideal for keeping the front end down climbing.

I've been using thicker shock oil, Losi 27.5.

I'll get the actual spring dimensions and picture up.

I've got a few more sets to try.

Managed to get the Ir60 shell about done, not got any pics but will put some up asap. Mirrors are a bit of a pain to get fitted but being rubber should be much better than crunching them off

thanks for the shock info mate, i have some spare injora shocks ill try that on. :good:

Forgotten how long ago i ordered my combo…….still no signs.

  • 2 weeks later...

Woo hoo, expected date for stock is 17th September, might be able to get a couple of hours in before it gets too cold outside.

meanwhile, flicking through the thousands of listings on eBay, i found this servo and popped it in my watchlist, so this morning (from China) i got a offer come through, made it too good a price to resist, so pulled the trigger and it will be on its journey soon.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276638620592?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=EtPaMiMgTTS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=pMPmbDCMTvi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Not really heard of the brand before but it does look like the Injora servo, comes with servo mount and horn too, works out to be a 1/3 of the cost of the set-up in my Defender.

this will take (according to the bumpf) 8.4v to obtain full kg rating.

anyone tried one?? Or know of the brand??
